Champ retains UFC title even with torn ACL

Staying on his feet is essential to Chuck Liddell's success in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. His punches don't carry their same vaunted power when he goes to the ground.

But Liddell managed to stay on his feet -- and knock out arch rival Tito Ortiz -- on a leg that will require anterior cruciate ligament surgery.

Liddell knocked out Ortiz at 3:59 of the third round Saturday to retain his UFC light heavyweight title before a sellout crowd of 14,607 at the MGM Grand Garden.

Seconds after a victory he called the biggest of his career, Liddell admitted to UFC president Dana White that he tore an ACL in a knee three weeks ago.

Liddell beamed when asked about it in the locker room, but wouldn't say which knee he injured or how he hurt it.

"Does it matter?" he asked, a broad grin crossing his mustachioed face.

Rampage has two fights on his ufc contract, look for him to fight two descent fighters then renegotiate for a new contract to fight Chuck, cause if you know much about Rampage, his favorite saying is "show me the money"
