      Let me start off by saying, I know Fuzo owns this board. So that sets things back to like 1970 automatically. But can someone tell me how the reputation points work? I have repped RevTodd, but his rep points are still at 0. Also, I'll notice my rep points will change, but when I go to see who left me the rep point, nothing is on my comments section. It's like, the points change sometimes 5, 6, 7 points at a time.

      i think mod and admin reps have a higher point value than regular member.

      regular to regular, mod, vet, admin rep 1 point
      mod to regular, mod, vet, admin rep 2 points
      admin to regular, mod, vet 4 points

      i could be wrong

      the rep system is about the most complicated thing ever to explain, but ill tell you what VBulletin says about it......its alot to read thru, i may add it to the FAQ link on the navbar. Enjoy the read......lol

      What is the reputation system?

      The reputation system is very similar to the Karma system seen on other popular websites and forums (fitnessgeared.com, for example). Its purpose is to hopefully give users an idea of how respected, knowledgeable, helpful, gracious, etc., a person is. It is a system in which you rate your peers. It is a system that, hopefully, will make you think twice about your posts. Eventually, people with higher reputation scores will enjoy a few forum 'perks'; more storage for private messages, for example.

      How do I give reputation?

      There is an icon in the upper right area of each post. Click the icon, and a window will pop up allowing you to give reputation.

      Do I have to participate in the reputation system?

      The reputation system is completely optional. But, by participating in discussion in our forums you are eligible to receive positive and negative reputation points from other users.

      How much reputation can I give out? Are there any limits?

      There are quite a few limits in place to prevent minor abuse of the reputation system. Obviously there cannot be a flawless system, but these limits try to curb any intentional abuse. You must have 50 posts and 1 reputation point in order for your reputation to count on other people. Until you meet those requirements, your reputation will show up as grey dots (see below). Everybody is limited to giving out 47 reputations per day; you cannot give the same person reputation until you have given reputation to 10 other people. This prevents friends from giving 47 reputations to the same person every day.

      How do I see what reputation people have given me?

      If you go into your User CP (linked at the top of every page) you can see a list of the past 25 reputation points you have received.

      How do I know what my reputation score is?

      In your User CP, in the upper right, you can see what your current reputation score is.

      Where can I see my reputation for a particular post?

      If you click the reputation icon on your post, a window will pop up with your current score for that individual post.

      Someone gave me bad/good reputation, and I want it removed; what can I do?
      If you have a valid complaint about reputation, send a private message to FUZO or CHASE with a link to the post you were given incorrect reputation to. All complaints will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis, and changes to the reputation are not guaranteed.

      What do the green, red, and grey dots mean?

      A green dot indicates that you were given positive reputation. A red dot indicates that you were given negative reputation. A grey dot indicates that the user gave you reputation, but it counted neither positive or negative.

      How many reputation points do the dots represent?

      You get awarded 1 reputation bar for every 100 points.

      Here is the formula used in the code:
      $reputationbars = intval($reputation_value / 100);

      And, the way it loops, it adds one to the bars, so:

      50 => 1 bar
      99 => 1 bar
      125 => 2 bar
      199 => 2 bar
      359 => 4 bar

      Why would reputation not count positive or negative?

      When a new user first starts out, their reputation does not count. There are a few factors that determine when their reputation should start counting. Some of those factors are the number of posts, the number of days they have been registered, and the number of reputation points that have been given to them.

      When my reputation begins to count, do my grey dots then count?

      No, once a reputation value has been given (negative, positive, or neutral) the point values will never change retroactively. If you give a zero-point reputation, it will remain a zero-point reputation no matter how high or low your reputation point values become.

      What are good and bad things to give positive reputation for?

      Reputation should be given to people who post meaningful, helpful, and thoughful posts. Any post that contributes to the thread in a positive way probably deserves positive reputation. This does not mean that you agree with what was said; the point brought up may be completely opposite to what you believe, but it may be a good point nonetheless, and worthy of a pat on the back. Giving positive reputation to someone because they are your friend and deserve to have a few more green dots next to their name probably isn't a good reason to give positive reputation.

      What are good and bad things to give negative reputation for?

      Negative reputation should be given if the person is posting something that detracts from the conversation. If the post is rude, inappropriate, breaks forum rules, is not gracious, etc; these are all good reasons to give negative reputation. If you have a personal grudge with someone, their team, etc, is it not appropriate to give them negative reputation for no reason. Giving negative reputation because you don't agree with what was said is not an appropraite use of the reputation system. People are entitled to their own opinions, and just because you don't agree doesn't mean the user was wrong or not contributing to the conversation.

      This is not how it works from what I see. It seems like almost everyone has the same amount of bars. Except for the brand new people.

      ^^ I see, but why does someone with 60 have as many as someone with a few hundred. Based on the formula, they should have 1 bar, right?

      I'm not trying to knock anyone's rep down, I just don't see the point in the bar if it's the same for just about everyone. lol Of course, it doesn't bother me, lol, but when I saw the formula I just got confused. Which isn't hard. lol
