Raw Powerfest

TweetSam Byrd, Director of Powerlifting for Raw Powerfest, reports that new dates have been added to the calendar for next year's Raw Powerfest. Added to the confirmed locations of Arlington and Chicago, Byrd says that events will be hosted by Mike Miller and Nazareth Barbell in Allentown, Jon Grove and North Georgia Barbell in Atlanta, and another event will occur in Phoenix. Additional potential locations include Houston, Kenosha, Norfolk, Raleigh, St. Petersburgh, and Washington.

Raw Powerfest will eventually be scheduled in 12 cities around the country and have $15,000 in prizes up for grabs. Byrd says:

This will not be just another PL federation with a different set of equipment rules. The format will be much different and will emphasize a structural hierarchy with Regional and National Level competition and titles. What we are doing is independent of every PL federation out there now because I have a bigger plan for the sport than what is already offered in these limited federations.



Shawn "Bud" Lyte explains further:
Most of you already know that I'm leaving 100% Raw Powerlifting on December 10. Some of you already know that I'm working with Sam Byrd to present Raw Powerfest. What you may not already know is that 100% Raw has decided to decline being a part of, and all involvement with, Raw Powerfest.

This means it Raw Powerfest will be completely open and not restricted by any sanction's politics.

For those who feel castrated by the WADA banned substance list - which includes many legal OTC supplements - Raw Powerfest presents the opportunity to compete raw without worrying if your N.O.-Xplode will make you fail a whiz quiz.

BMF Points Series events are:
* Full-Power
* Bench Press
* Bench For Reps
* BMF Iron Triathlon™

Exhibition events are to include (varied by location):
* Strongman
* Strict Curl
* Arm Wrestling

For bodybuilders and other athletes whose focus is strength, not power, the BMF Iron Triathlon™ is for you!

We currently have Dallas (Ronnie Coleman Classic and Branch Warren's bodybuilding show), Atlanta, and Tampa/St. Pete, and will know about Houston, New York and Chicago within 2 weeks. We would like to have commitments from hosts in 6 more locations within the next 3 weeks.

Do you still know a gym owner that would like to make instead of spend $1000 for a day or two of marketing? To host events, we are looking for more gyms that can accommodate 1-2 days of events plus 10 or more display tables for vendors. There's no major out of pocket costs for the gym owners and they control admission, concessions, get a cut of the vendors' fees and a captive audience of active lifters to market to.

If you have people in the area who would like to be meet directors for arm wrestling and strict curl, we'd like them to be a part of it as well. Meet directors all run their sports their way without interference from us. The exception being that powerlifting will be run in accordance with the scoring and guidelines that Sam Byrd outlines, which are in the best interest of all the athletes.

We start running ads in PL USA and will have exposure in bodybuilding circles because two of the Powerfest events will be at Ronnie Coleman's and Branch Warren's shows. The sooner we can get commitments from participating gyms, the sooner we can promote and advertise them, giving them much more for the investment of their time and effort.
