I LOVE BOOBOOKITTY...
Tweeti understand david what your saying but if its not one thing its another and i know they take time time effort and its not like o he did somehting wrong the first time of did not ome to me the first time its EVERYDAY ALL DAY i can not even take him off his lease because if he see someone walking he thiks they wanna play with him and he runs over jumps on them and licks them as i am chasing him yelling for him to come but when its me and him he minds VERY well`
TweetWeather or not you spay him your still going to need to take time to train him. One trick my father used with good result, put him on a leash so he can`t run all over, get a special can and set it on the counter (always in the same place where he can see it) and fill it with doggy treats. Stand next to the can then give him commands one at a time with lots of praise when he does it right.
Also try using hand signals with your commands (it really works!) for example "come"-slap your thigh. Sit- hold your hand flat facing palm up and bend your fingers 90 degrees so they point up. (for jumping problem) Down- hold your hand flat and push down towards the door.
TweetIt won't matter if you chop or not, it takes dogs about 3-4 years to grow up and calm down for the most part. You are just going to have to deal with it. I have never met a dog that didn't take 3-4 years to start to settle down and not be so hyper. Look at it like this, dogs age 7 years to our 1 so at 2 years old your dog will be like a 14 teen year old and we all know they don't listen for shit. At 3, he will be like a 21 year old, still, not very focused for most and a little defiant. At 4, he will be like a 28 year old and then he will a lot more calm down.
Basically, you have a dog that's not even the equivalent of a teenager yet and you still have some training to do. Any good dog will need training for the first 3 years. to get then through their adulesence stage.
TweetPS - is this your Bulldog? If you decide to get rid of him, let me know because I want one.
TweetByRon, are you taking alot of time with him, or just giving him commands all the time? Dogs aren't dumb and if you aren't being attentive with him, im talking spending time, talking to him etc, then he will know. Alot of animals can be like this tho especailly when they are young. I don't know when a pup is old enough to be spayed, but if its time, i would do it, especially if your not going to breed. It will calm him down alot, but even right after the spay, it can take maybe a month before all the hormones are out of his system. Be patient and don't get rid of him just because of this. The spaying will help if it he is old enough to have it done.
