TweetAnyone?
TweetI work 10-12 hours a day in the heat, no a/c in Texas and its about 95-105 degrees daily. I just found out I get Powerade for free at the store next to us, it comes out of the soda machine though so dont know how good it is. I had 2 quarts today and it tasted so damn good and helped me keep working hard. Im literally soaked with sweat for most of the day.
If it is ok....should I only drink it in between meals so it doesnt spike my carbs or whatever....lol? I was thinking about drinking a quart in between meals in the morning and a quart in between meals in the late afternoon.
TweetAnyone?
Tweetwhen you add up the sugar/carb content, its a lot. i'd only drink it as needed, and make the bulk of your fluids in your workday water.
Tweetid say if ur worried about it why not just replace it with water, i realize powerade tastes better than water but 2 quarts is gonna equal alot of sugar/carbs
Im gonna get so big I cant dress myself
TweetNothing really beats plain ol water for most situations. If you really just don't like plain water I'd try those crystal light or wyler powders w/ water.
TweetAlso you really don't lose much electrolytes (contrary to what gatorade and powerade makes want you to think), but they do need to be replaced periodically.
TweetIf you are working in that much heat for that many hr a few wouldn't hurt, but still water is best for hydration. Id perhaps add some fresh squeezed lemon to the water.
TweetI used to work long time ago when i was teenager in a Steel Mill where they poured the molten steel into ladels in casting dept. It was very hot, and i remember they would ship in lemons during the summer months.
TweetShit....I dont care what it tastes like so long as its good for me. I love water, I think Mikey told me to drink gatorade so I dont get dehydrated a while back. I honestly feel bad chugging down the powerade! Thanks guys I'll stick to water.
TweetI am guilty of this one. The supermarket always has either powerade or gatorade 10 32oz bottles for $10. I usually go through between 15 or 20 a week. I KNOW i should be drinking water instead but trying to drink warm water after it's been sitting in the truck with no cooler sucks. I can stomach warm powerade but not warm water. BTW my wife got me to try the new crystal light "on the go" pouches you just empty into 20 oz of water and it's really good. Maybe that will be my salvation =)
