TweetMorning training is the way to go for me...

TweetThe boss at my new job wants me to go workout with him. I figured this would be good to build a relationship with him (since Im the new guy) and to get my training out of the way so I can relax after working my 11-12 hours shifts.
He wants me to meet him a 6am tommorow morning. I think I can do it but Im going to be tired as hell. What should I eat if we're going to be lifting? Just the regular eggs and oatmeal with some EFAs, then take my Met-rx amped pre-workout drink? Figured I would take all my vitamins when I got home with my PWO shake.

Tweetthe main thing is to not wake up at 5:45 and head straight to the gym. you're gonna need about 45 minutes to an hour to fully wake up. right when you wake up, brew some coffee (if you like it) and have a couple of cups. the other stuff you have outlined to take before hand also sound like a good idea. just wake up at 5 (throw yourself out of bed if you have to) and have some coffee, watch tv for a bit and just wake up. if you don't give yourself time to fully wake up, your workouts will suffer, imo. good luck, let us know how it went.
Tweetyeah, wake up first
IMHO, eat three good meals within 6 hours, remember you need nut to replenish, nut to grow, and nut to fuel the day
in pm workouts, you eat, sit on couch, before bed shake, go to bed
as always it's all in the nutrition
TweetWorking out in the morning is the shiot. I love working out on that schedule. Just make sure that you are getting at least 8 hours or more of sleep everynight so that your recovery will be good.
TweetWow the earliest I ever worked out was 9:00 am. I felt pretty amped for a wk but after that I couldn't get into my routine anymore. But at that time there R not 2 many spotters mostly retirees, and women. So that sucked for me, but I guess if you have a partner it'll be easier...
TweetI'm at the gym by 0430 every morning... love it!

TweetSo I got up this morning at 515 and called my boss and told him I jst cant do it. Haha. He understood and said if it wasnt for his family, he would lift at night too.
So i went tonight at about 730 and with driving there and back and lifting got home at close to 9. Had a good workout and Im just going to stick to this for now on. What about nutrition though? I've been doing a carb cutoff but dont I need carbs after lifting?
TweetI couldn't do it Cromb, lol! It would take me at least an hr to wake up, and i have to eat breakfest first, so that another 1/2hr to an hr. Id be getting up at 3:30 or 4:am. No can do.. What i do sometime is to take a long lunch and workout then, that way i don't have to do it when i get home.
TweetCarido? yes, on an empty stomach no less.
Arms? ok...
Legs? no.
TweetOh man.....hitting it first thing in the morning is the way for me. I HATE going at night and then only getting to have a shake and one meal before going to bed.
Just adjust your hours bro. If you have to get up a little earlier to eat and wake up before hitting the gym just get your arse to bed earlier in the night.
I love working out early and then having all day to eat and re-fuel. But I could not do it without ECA...

TweetYou need two carb meals after lifting. PWO shake and PPWO solid food meal about 1 - 1.5 hrs after shake.Originally Posted by crombie09

TweetTry again! You will be tired the first couple days but then yoru body will make youcrash earlier at night. You will be fine. I used to do the same thing and I loved it but I have to get up atleast an hour before my workout. I drink a shake, otherwise my breakfast will come back up the way I train. I'm serious, I do the Dorian Yates one gut busting set thing and I will loose my cookies if I eat whole food before I train. Not to mention, the digestive system takes energy from you and that will hinder you lifting. A shake on the other hand, digests with minimal effort so if leaves all my energy for my lifts.
You just have to suck it up and do it. You body will adjust. Also, if you can do a 3 day split you can do a tues, thurs and sat program, which is what I do, and only have to get up early two days. Tell your boss to meet you at say 8 on saturday so you can sleep a little more. Anyone can get up early two days a week. Now, if you boss is one of the 5 day a week guys, this won't work.
