Anyone here have or know a friend that has had a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 series pick up with 4WD. I'm in the process of getting a new truck and it has come down to either that one or a 2003 2004 F-150 with the FX4 package. I'm more partial to the chevy's but a few people have told me to stay away from them because they are just not reliable. Consumer report's also said that the 03' Z71 were def. not a good buy as far as reliability is concerned.

I know daved is in the car business. Maybe someone can chime in here with some feedback PLEASE....

I own a 04 Chevy silverado 5.3 V8 reg cab short bed with 2wd and I love my truck. The only problems so far have been speakers, 1 spring, and the paint (but that was because it was in an accident before the dealer sold it to me.)

All in all I think the Chevy is a way better buy than the ford and it will walk all over it, unless of course it's a lightning, then it's no match. But supercharge your chevy and you'll walk all over the lightning! Okay enough rambling. Hope this helps. let me know if you have any other questions.

Maybe everything that I have been hearing bad about the chevy is only for the 4 wheel drive. I know that any car or truck will have problems at some point but I'm just listening to everyone's opinion.

You know what Ford stands for right.....

      Found On Road Dead
      Fixed Or Repaired Daily
      F*cking Owners Really Dumb
and for the kicker Ford backwards is Driver Returns On Foot!!

That should give you some insight into your purchase. Of course that doesn't apply to the Mustang which I will admit is a good build. Besides that Ford's suck!

really depends what you want it for. ford makes tough trucks, dodge makes cool looking trucks, toyota makes reliable trucks.

even though im a chevy guy, I think their trucks could use some help.

Even my mechanic who has been a chevy man for years now drives an F-150 and says that chevy trucks help keep him in business.

      ^^^
That is what has me worried because I really trust his opinion. Although I wish he would have never told me that because I like the chevy's

We drove 1 ton Chevy vans for years at work, But over the last 5 years , we have switched to Ford vans. They have been low maintenance, dependable and work like crazy. One point, we have all diesels.
I am xurrently looking at new trucks and the F-150 FX4 is the way I am leaning.
Push it, Pull it, Rack it. Repeat untill wide!!

my friends do heavy hauling with 1ton dually pickups, they have used dodge, ford and chevy, and the fords have outperformed all of them.

I still hate fords, but they are great work trucks
