Tweethow was the fight AOM
TweetI'm looking forward to it tonight. I will be watching it. I think a lot of it's hype, but it will be good to see the Golden Boy come out of retirement.
In the past, De LaHoya has had his share of trouble with faster fighters, ala Felix Sturm and bernard Hopkins. Mayorga brings a good fight, and has also had his fair share of problems. He's had 2 defeats in his last 4 fights by Spinks and Trinidad, who are much better schooled fighters than Oscar. I see Oscar's ring rust playing a huge part in this fight. I also see Mayorga's cokyness being a small problem. His cigarette smoking, beer drinking ring antics are getting old, and he should be more focused on a tuff fight. I'm very undecided tonight. I am weighing about 70% in Mayorga's favor by KO. Again, ring rust and age being Oscar's biggest downfall. However, back in the day, Oscar was a much better skilled fighter than mayorga ever was. If we see the Oscar of old (doubtful), we can see Mayorga getting KO'd. But for now, I see Mayorga winning by KO in the latter rounds.

Tweeti saw it, de la hoya beat that ass!!!! he did what he said he was going to do- knock that punk out! ok, it was a tko, but still, he beat homeboy down. mayorga looked like an amateur in there; he just couldn't hang. he was throwing wild, uncontrolled punches and oscar would just tag him when he was open. mayorga let his right hand drop repeatedly and oscar took advantage of it.
oscar was nailing him with the trademark left hook at will.
after the tko mayorga's crew had to carry him over to his corner
TweetJust as phreak said. 1st round, Oscar tagged Mayorga with a right that sent Ricardo reeling. As soon as he went down to the canvas, I think me, as well as 1,000,000 other people saw the look of desperation in Mayorga's face. He knew he wasn't in for an easy fight. Mayorga was swinging at anything that moved, and de LaHoya's counter punching was like the days of old. He looked unstoppable. No ring rust whatsoever. After the fight, Mayorga apologized to him saying "I'm sorry about everything I said to you. You're a great champion." Look for Oscar to offer him a job with Golden Boy promotions soon.
