Tweetwhat do you christian people think of this? i think it will cause alot of controversy if it contests any of the other gospels, it should be interesting

Tweetnot in the Holy Bible, it is not worth the paper it is written on. Not the word of God. end of story. I will not watch it. More attempts by secular society to undermine the Bible, when in fact, it is society itself demonstrating its own foolishness by doubting the Word of God and throwing these apocryphal gospels up for discussion.
I like your avatar...great movie.

TweetHow can you say that bro?? I watched it last night, and it is written on the same paprius that all the gospels in the Bible were written on. They had three of the worlds most experience experts study it, and it was also carbon dated to 50yrs of the time the others were dated. So it is authentic and could not have been forged. It is explained that the Roman introjected and edited parts of the previous gospels to put all the blame on Judas, when in fact they were the ones who condemed him and were against Christianty. They did this knownly, which propetuated anti-semitism. Judas was merely doing what Jesus wanted him to do. He knew his time was near, and Judas followed what he wanted. It has nothing to do with secular society. This is tangible proof, no doubt about it.Originally Posted by PL456

TweetIam not pro or con on this, but you can't dispute poof in science. There were three men who studied it, one an expert in Codex, one an expert in the gospels and in anticuities, and the other an expert in carbon dating. It was kinda funny, because they had some ppl; Roman Catholic scholar fumbling with words trying to find an excuse to dispute the findings. This isn't like the Shroud of Turin or Jesus's supposed brothers coffin that have been proven false. 85% of this gospel has been restored in which Jesus is actually talking to Judas. The gospel was sold for 300K by an Egyptian dealer. He could have sold it for millions.
TweetI thought the Bible was a group of writings that were found over time. So I guess it wouldn't be above the imagination to still find a writing or 2 in the year 2006? Am I wrong here?Originally Posted by PL456

TweetJames wrote to Bishop Bancroft telling his plans of a retranslation of the Bible. James, from what I've read, was not Catholic and was not subject to any authority of the Catholic Church. The KJV also omitted several books of the original compilation, not just the Gnostic gospels.
TweetWell, even if it's legit, there are many so called gospels that didn't make it in the Bible. When the Bible was put together there was a group of Cardinals who meet and read every book that was in circulation. They prayed about it and they only put the books they felt were written by men who wrote the word of God. There was even a gosepl of Timothy that displayed Jesus as kind of a bad kid. Well, Timothy never knew Jesus when he was a child so they discredited that book. Books that were left out of the Bible were done so because they were easily discredited as man's word and not God's word.
Here's my take on the whole thing. God, in my belief, is omnicient, omnipotent and trancendent. That means he is all powerful, knows all things at all times and in all places. Nothing takes place without him knowing about it. Thus, one can conclude that ALL things are the will of God, both bad and good. The reason I say this is, if God knows a man is going to rape and murder a woman and he lets it happen, then it was his will for that to happen. Therefore, God, knowing everything, knew the Cardinals would meet about the books of the Bible, he knew what books they would choose before they did and therefore the Bible is exactly as God wanted it to be.
On another note. Here you have some manuscript supposidly from Judas. Besides the fact that Judas committed suicide the day after Jesus was taken into custody and would not have been alive to write anything after Jesus death, there is the other fact that the four gospels of Mark, Luke, John and Matthew all give very similar acoounts. These gospels were said to be written by these men while they were all in different parts of the world. So, you have four similar stories by four eyewitnesses and then this other story that conflicts them. Hmmm, I call BS! Here's why, if four give the same account of a man and that man is the only one to debate it then I say he is a liar. If four people say I killed someone and I say I didn't, who are you going to believe?
And again, if this gospel of Judas was legit, God would have seen fit to have it in the Bible. There is no way a book gets left out of the Bible that should have been in it. That would make the Bible flawed and if it's flawed then it can't be truth.

TweetWell, as I remeber the story and as it was displayed in Passion of the Christ, Judas had an obvious guilt after he saw what they did to Jesus. Then he experienced what many say was the visualization of demons. I believe it was the demons that pushed him over the edge. In Passion of the Christ they pretty much hit it right on the head based on what people said they saw. You know, a guy freaks out and calims to see demons and then kills himself doesn't sound like the kind of person who give a credible witness to anything. It sounds more like a crazy person. Who knows though, maybe a demon came to him and said it was Jesus and told him to betray Jesus. You just never know. Jesus himself was tempted by Satan so why couldn't Satan tempt Judas? It's one of those things that modern man wont know until he dies.Originally Posted by Depdaddy
As for me, it has no bearing. I will live my life the best I can, ask for forgivness when I mess up, do what I can to help those who are in need, try not to judge anyone, love everyone I meet and do my best to let my actions glorify God. All I can do is try to be what God wants. He knows what's in my heart so I don't let things like the gospel of Judas or the Da Vinci Code come between me and God. The Bible says that the Devil will do everything he can to steer people away from God. I refuse to let him do so with me. I already made that mistake once, never again.
