Don't know anybody personally that has done that before. A buddy of mine is adopted but doesn't care about finding his biological parents.

I had a great friend who was adopted. She wanted to find her biological parents, and I bet that by now she did... too bad I lost contact with her. Her brother was also adopted but didn't want to... I think she was way better "resolved" about that than he was.... I think he was in denial.

I also have an adopted cousin.... but the situation is different. Her biological mother married my uncle when she was pregnant. So she has her natural mom, and my uncle as a dad. She never wanted to meet her real father.

I know it must be such a scary and delicate situation. But I think you should do it. I bet there must be groups there in the USA that can help you find them and also give you support?

I work for an adoption agency and if you know what agency your were adopted through you could call them and see if they would contact the birthmother and see if she wants to meet you. If your adoption was a closed adoption the birthmother may not want to meet you..

You can also go on www.adoption.com and there is a link somewhere for reunification. Your biological mother may have registered.

      Hope this helps..good luck!

I think most states in USA will not disclose what they call "identifying information", if you were born before a certain yr and either the maternal parents have to sign release of information, before they will disclose. Canada laws i believe are much more lenient then here in the US, so im sure you won't have a hard time. Sometimes it is not all a bed of roses though, and i have heard of ppl opening up a "pandora's box", and wish they had never found out. I believe it depends on the individual situation.

my old best friend was adopted. He met his real parents and didn't like them at all. He decided he doesn't need anyone else but his adopted parents.

funny thing is he grew up in a trailer park with his adoptive parents, and they won the ny state lottery 6 years ago of 19 million dollars. What a cool thing.

Yes...if it's a closed adoption then it's tougher...the birthmother may not be found by the adopting agency nor want to be found....it's closed for a reason. I know if we have their records we will try to contact the birthmother for them, but we can not give any information what so ever to the adopted party.

      Good luck!

Well if he can get in touch with the adoption agency and even if it was a closed adoption, if the agency can find the birthmother and ask her directly, he may be in luck....depending on her feelings to the whole matter....

Hey Jipped, by you saying "foster parents", did they legally adopt you?, or were they just awarded guardianship? If they were legally your adoptive parents, they should have had paperwork from the probate court in the county where the adoption took place. The probate court document should have your original last name and your first name if your parent/parents gave you one before you were adopted. Also there should be an adoption disclosure registary in your state. That is if the adoption was done in the state you are in now. One or both of your natural parents may have contacted them if they thought at some point you would look for them.

My grandmother was and were able to find her biological brother and sisters. You should try if you really want to know them.

mick as far as i know they fostered alot of kids until they were adopted. they were a part of our lives until they past away.

i have signed up with the state adoption registry in GA. if i want they records with only the circumstances on it, it is $35. if i want the actual records it is $300 and i can only get them if the bio mother has OK'd it. if not i just chunked $300 at the state. hopefully i will get somthing from the registry forum
