TweetSharon Transferred to Intensive Care Unit
JERUSALEM - Prime Minister Ariel Sharon underwent several hours of surgery after suffering a life-threatening stroke with doctors working through the night to stop "massive bleeding" in the brain. Hadassah Hospital Director Mor-Yosef said he was transferred to intensive care Thursday with stable vital signs.
"The prime minister has had a CT scan that showed the cerebral hemorrhaging has stopped," Mor-Yosef said. "The prime minister is still in serious condition."
Sharon's official powers were transferred to his deputy, Ehud Olmert, who chaired a special Cabinet session Thursday.
