Yup, dragged her a few times. There's nothing like the feeling of backing off the accelerator at 35mph cause you're heading sideways!
Tweetmy dad does it that counts he has a 66 chevelle ss pushing 900hp at the engine and he just put a 300hp(i think it was 300) nitrous shot on it. also has a 70 chevelle ss show car 69 nova drags it 70 vega hes working on or selling i dunno what hes doing with it and a 69 camaro he just did over
TweetI have a convertible 89 Mustang GT I drive everyday, and an 87' Mustang Coupe w/ a Brodix-headed Chevrolet 383. It's been 5.90's with previous owner, but I got my motor in it, should probably go 6.20's in eight, but it's fairly streetable.

Alot of people say that, but it's really popular around here! I think in the past Fords cost so much more to build than a small block Chevy that this was the affordable route, however due to the massive aftermarket for 5 liter mustangs, the used Ford racing parts aftermarket is rather affordable and available!

TweetYeah.. I spose..
Cept I always thought it was because chevy build a decent drivetrain, but not a decent car to put it in.
TweetActually 67-69 Camaros have the most desirable wheelbase of about any car out there. They also have leaf spring which will hook about as hard as you want them to and stay sturdy on the other end, however they are quickly becoming harder and harder to find. Mustang are a little short on the wheelbase, so they wheelie real hard , but the combination of decent wheelbase and a hard-hooking factory suspension, and excellent aerodynamics makes it a pretty good candidate since they're still plentiful!

TweetThe oldschool Camaro's may have a nice wheelbase. But are you really going to take a classic muscle car and then bastardize it into a drag car?
That's what you'd have to do because the older muscle cars wern't light at all. Especially the camaro's as they've always tended to be a little larger and heavier than the mustangs (with the possible exception of the 71-73 model years).
TweetUsed to when I was a teen but now I live too close to an 1/8th mile track and not that far from the Texas motorplex plus where have all the musclecars gone, old men restore them and never drive em. If you want to go cruise for a stoplight race all there are is little 4 banger subcompact economy cars with 90 horsepower that some kid puts a muffler on it that makes it sound like a weed-whacker. THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT. V-8 FOREVER
TweetWell, I have a different outlook than a lot of people about that. Here's the way I look at it. If you want to restore a car and take it to car shows, grow a handlebar mustanche, and play oldies, well have at it! Me? I'd rather see someone putting a car to use like thrashing it on the track or street racing or whatever you do. It's not bastardizing, it's customizing to your likes. If we all had the same taste the world would be dull and everyone would drive a Chrysler K-car.Originally posted by Got Gear?

TweetHey... I'm not saying don't do it. Hell I love drag cars.
I'm just saying do it with a chasis that isn't rare and valuable.
Drag cars get destroyed any way you look at it. If not by the owners modifications, then by the track and the damage done at it. I just think it's a shame to destroy a classic musclecar chassis when so many others exist that would perform just as well.
Tweeti had a 11 sec m3 and it got stolen
TweetWell in my opinion it's a lot better for them to get "destoyed" while someone is making use of it than it is to have a big shiny expensive piece of metal tucked away in some garage somewhere.Originally posted by Got Gear?

I've vowed that when I get rich, I'm going to buy a numbers matching Yenko Camaro, and bring it home and put a 632 inch motor, glide, and a 4-link in it. That's what I'm talking about!
I did however, last week sell the Mustang, payed some bills, and bought a 71' Nova, and a 468 inch motor, so I'll be running soon. It's getting a cage put in it as we speak!
