TweetUnfortunatly the world is full of them.
And sorry to hear of someone taking your money.
TweetI'm sorry I haven't been posting much. I haven't been much in the mood, nor the Holiday spirit. I haven't even been posting in the sports forum. Someone who I thought was a friend ripped me off for over $1300, and it just put a damper on my holidays. I don't want any money. That's not why I'm posting. Money can be made back. Hell, money's not even the issue. TRUST is something hard to be made back. The worst part is, that someone can do this knowing I have a 3 month old at home, and a 2 year old, with Christmas right around the corner. Once again, money is not the issue. The good Lord has blessed me with a good job, a comfortable bank account, a good family, and a healthy life. It's just that sometimes people can do things that make you scratch your head and go "Wow, some people really are like that."

TweetYou got scammed for AAS ?? is that what it is.. or
TweetSorry to hear that AOM. Unfortunately there are a bunch of shitty people in the world that only think about themselvs.
TweetNo. OK, since so many are asking, here's the deal:Originally Posted by Diggi
I belong to a fraternity called the Masons. For those of you that heard of us, you understand. For those of you that haven't, look us up. But at any rate, we are a fraternity. And fraternity brothers help each other out. Just like college fraternity brothers, we are just as close. We are a world wide organization, and have lodges in every state. Whenever a brother needs help, one of us is there to help if we can.
On November 23rd (My birthday of all times), I was eating lunch at a pizza shop. A guy walks buy and looks at my ring and says "Hey brother, I'm with ****** Lodge out of New York." We shake hands, and I introduce myself. He says his name is Jeff Collanzo. I ask him to join me for lunch, which he does. We talked for about an hour or so, and he knew a lot about the fraternity. Too much for me not to believe he wasn't a member. So I ask him what he's doing down here from New York. He says "I own a computer software company, and I'm here doing a job for XYZ company." I say "So you're gonna be here for Thanksgiving?" He replies "Well, originally I wasn't going to be. I was heading home tonight to pick my daughter up for Thanksgiving, but it looks like I'm staying." So I assumed his job was keeping him here. I asked him why he wasn't going home? He says "Last night I went to the restaurant in the hotel. While I was there, someone robbed my hotel room. They took my wallet, my cash, my credit cards, and my plane ticket. I took my drivers license with me in case they asked for ID at the restaurant if I wanted a drink. But they pretty much took everything else." So I asked if the Airline will replace the ticket. He says "No, I need to purchase a new one. I can't because they took my credit card." I asked if he had relatives who could send him money or get him a ticket? He said "I have no family except for an ex wife, and she wishes I was dead. So I know she's not gonna help me. And she's gonna be happy I'm not coming home so she can keep my daughter for the holiday." He kind of laughed and said "Oh well, so goes life!" So we talk a little more, and at that point I say "Listen, I can help you if you promise as a brother to pay me back." At first he was a little apprehensive and was like "No, I couldn't." But then he says "Well, I really do want to see my daughter. And I am coming back on Monday, so I could bring you cash then." He asks me "Are you sure?" I said "Yes, but like I said, as long as you agree to pay me back, we're good." He says the ticket is approximately $300, and he needs cash for his hotel room since he doesn't have his original credit card to swipe it on. And money for the rental car. Total he says is approx $1300. So we drive to my bank, and he was really smart in the sense that he stayed outside as not to be caught on camera. He told me he was gonna call his ex and tell her he was coming home tonight to pick his daughter up. So I went inside, and got him enough money for a plane ticket, rentral car and to pay his hotel room. I come out with the money, and ask him to copy down his license info. He says "Sure." He gives me his drivers license and I copy his address. I also get his phone number. I take him back to the pizzaria, we work out when we're gonna meet on Monday, and he leaves and tells me how thankful he is for me helping him out.
Monday comes, he's a no show. I'm thinking maybe something went wrong at home. So Tuesday comes, I call the hotel, there is no guest registered there with that name. OK, so I'm a little nervous. I call his house. His number is no good. Now, I'm really nervous. I drive to the hotel and go in and ask again if there's a guest named Jeff Collanzo staying there. I was told No. So I go home and mapquest his address. No such address is found. So basically, he had a fake ID. I call the police. I was told since I willingly gave him the money, and even though he passed himself off as someone he wasn't, there was nothing they could do. SO, it's my loss.

TweetAOM, i am sorry to here this, but this is one of the biggest scams out there. A person finds out something about someone or an organization, then they find out who belongs to them and makes up a sorry case story when they happen to bump into that person. It takes alot of research, but i am wondering how many Masons he has screwed with this same line? Never, never trust anyone. I centainly don't unless i meet them and know where they live and find out as much as i need to know to feel comfortable with them. I myself have learned lessons from ppl that i even knew for a long period and figured they were friends when later i found out they were users.
TweetHey bro, you did the right thing. You stepped up for what you thought was one of your brothers! Period. You had no way of knowing he was full of shit. Although it sucks, you did as your fraternity would have expected and that makes you a great brother of that frat. What this guy did is bullshit. Maybe you should get a description of him down on paper and send out a nation wide warning to all the masons. Then, the next time he pulls this shit, someone will beat his ass. If it makes you feel any better, I had a close friend of 2 years take 2,200 from me and disappear. Most people have no honor or integrity. I honestly believe there is only a small group of people on this planet who operate out of totaly honesty, integrity and honor. It's sad, but true. You are one of the good ones bro!

Tweet007 is right on point with this AOM. That is why i have such little trust in most, because there is not many ppl nowdays that have integrity or that can be honest enough to rely on. This is the time of yr when alot of this kind of stuff goes on, sadly but true and alot of it is geared towards the elderly, because they are the most vulnerable.
