School To Unveil Three-Prong Program

CANTON, Ohio -- There are 490 female students at Timken High School, and 65 are pregnant, NewsChannel5 reported.

Some would say that movies, TV, videogames, lazy parents and lax discipline may all be to blame.

School officials are not sure what has contributed to so many pregnancies, but in response to them, the school is launching a three-prong educational program to address pregnancy, prevention and parenting.

WEWS also reported that students will face mounting tensions created by unplanned child-rearing responsibilities, causing students to quit school and plan for a GED. This will make it difficult for the Canton City School District to shake its academic watch designation by the state.

According to the Canton Health Department, statistics through July show that 104 of the 586 babies born to Canton residents in Aultman Hospital and Mercy Medical Center had mothers between 11 and 19.


WEWS discovered that the non-Canton rate was 7 percent. Canton was 15 percent.


Cleveland's rate is 20 percent.

TweetParents shouldn`t be blamed for this.. they did the same thing like their kids are doing today.. using drugs, joining gangs, dropping out of school, females 13+ having kids and all.. their parents did the same things and their kids will do the same.

Many broken families their kids turn out to be 100% bad.. I`m sure if someones a doctor their kid won`t drop out of middle or high school, join a gang and start using drugs.

But regardless of this.. todays young females are trouble..having kids at such a young age that all of us have to pay for their kids out of our paychecks.. its ridiculous.

My wife overheard one of our neighbors daughters, when her parents weren' home having a party and talking to two guys outside on their deck about a threesome, and their parents are not real lenient. Then another day both daughers were washing their cars in mini sKirts, tube tops and high heels, when their parents weren't home when guys were working on another neighbors roof. I bet their parents think they are little Miss innocents too, lol!, as everything changes when the parents are home. I just think there are alot of young ladies thinking having sex and being real sexy is the thing to do and there won't be any consequences from it later. I mean its not like you can really blame young guys when girls are doing stuff like that, lol!

I agree with you mick. I think it's kind of 50/50. Half the parents fault, and half the schools fault. Honestly my parents were strict but gave me a condom at 16 and told me it's not a license to have sex but to use my brain, and not the brain between my legs! Plus he always talked to me about things throughout my childhood. My school always was preaching about sex, drugs, and violence. There were so many assemblies, and we had health class since 7th grade teaching us about all of that stuff. Quite honestly they had me scared straight! I wouldn't touch drugs, and was paranoid of STD's so I think education definitely works.

Yeah, I was at a waterpark today for my friends b-day and we noticed these 2 girls, the must have been 12-14 but had enough makeup on to make them look like they were 16-18. Thier parents were right there with them and acted all goodie goodie when they called them but were checking out me and my friend, both 24 yrs old. Sickening.
