      Default good input please

there is a division one college near here. there is a junior that is a pitcher. he has a big chance of going high in the MLB draft. he came to me to train him . the scouts say he need 15 pds added before fall. over the last few weeks he has gained already 8 pds. drug free may i add also...he went to the doctor and got some anti depresants prescibed for him to slow his metabolism down. anyone ever heard of that? not really sure of the drug name but doc said it was the newest one out. the kid is close to throwing 90 and is 5 '11 and 168 now he is 176pds.

hopefully his success will help lead to me some ...lol

I know this from taking anti-depressants long ago, that I was more lathargic, and did not feel like doing shit except sleeping and laying around. But as far as the medication itself making your metabolism slow down, I am not sure about that.

MLB scout: "Damn, that kid looks lethargic and flabby. Let's snap him up before the Yankees get him." Make sure his training stays up to snuff. I got my doubts about this.

the kid is alot like me i can eat eat eat and never gain fat etc..there is a formula u calculate that shows how many calories u need to keep your body from losing weight etc.. im home now but its a work. i never gained shit even from gear until i started getting my calories way the hell up. i ate everything i saw good , bad food! didnt matter. i quit drinking anything that would jack my metabolism up like caffeine, etc..

so basically ive now gained 60 pds in 2 yrs and have keep the exact same pants size! my body burns calories off faster than i can put them on!

this boy has gained 8 pds so far and u would never know it. he is just as i would say feeling out!

fast metabolism is a blessing bro, i wouldnt mess with it. if the kid consumes upward of 10k calories he will gain weight.

I cant believe a dr. would prescribe antidepressants to slow metabolism, thats fucked up. I would have him just eat more until he gains weight. 5'11 168 isnt underweight to where he would need that. I say to tell him to eat more.

Thats really disturbing to me that they would do that to a kid much less a prominant athlete, sounds like too many people have their own interests at heart instead of the kids.

i dont understand the logic behind it either, he an athlete we all have very high metabolisms, we consume lots of food. if i want to gain weight during my swim season i eat like 10k -12k a day. it sucks and get expensive as hell and swimming has much more anarobic and areobic then baseball. im in the water 2.5-4 hours a day not counting dry land and weights. he needs to eat. i would have covered every availiable option before messing with his metabolism due to anti depressants. anti's also have bad side effects that would not help him. my expert opinion as a D1 conditioned athlete would be to make a diet for him and make him stick to it. its a mathamatical equation. if he consumes more calories then he burn he will gain weight.

He is 5'11" and 176#. He should have no problem gaining with 4000+ plus quality calories a day, proper weight training, and plenty of rest.
