It really depends on the circumstances.

Doctors can and sometimes do perscribe HCG.

Usually when the doc does start perscribing testosterone for HRT purposes, he's already exhausted all other options. Once you start HRT, it's a "for the rest of your life" type of thing. Most people who are on HRT are older folks who have already had children or never plan on having any. Thus, the doc might be inclined to just let em shrink...as your never gonna need them again.

Basicly the same thing as when you go on thyroid meds. Once you start..your on those things for life.

The idea of hrt sounds appealing, but not LLBS (lifetime little balls syndrome)

Actually they use hcg for the hrt if you have low free testosterone in the blood too, and it may or may not be lifetime, depending on your situation. I did see alot of older men in there. I think they were getting test injections to give them more vigor.

NOYB, lol! No seriously, i had low free testosterone in the blood, but i only had to use the hcg for about three to four months and then everything was back to normal. I guess it would depend on your particular issue, as to how long you would have to be on treatment. Sometimes, like in my case it was not very long, but some ppl it may take longer or it could be lifetime. It all is different depending on the individual and their issue. Also sometimes hcg does not bring up test to a normal level and they switch to testosterone treatment.

There is no "rule" for hcg before test, it all depends on the individual and their particular prob. As, a hypothetical, say if you were an old man, lol, like 60-70yr. then they would prob put you on low dosage of testosterone, because that is what is usually required for an older man with low test. They put them on hrt of test so they can get their libido back and vigor and perhaps have some fun with the granny, lol unless they lieky the young womens, lmao!

If you know you have low natural test levels, did they also check the spermatoza to see if you are producing enough sperm and your count? If not, it is up to you, and if you have the insurance to cover, but i would personally go to a endocronologist that specializes in reproductive and have them do the proper testing to see, as this may hamper conception in the future. I may also add that low testosterone levels also can have side effects, such as fatigue, lack of libido, insomnia or reverse, immune system, and can even cause some depression, especially if they have lack of motivation and are feeling fatigue much of the time. also do you get headache frequently? It is best to be seen by a professional in that field and get proper treatment, even if you are younger it will help in your overall heath and well being.
