TweetGo to the doc and have it checked out. If you do have some tearing, you DEFINATELY do not want to make it worse.
TweetAnyone here ever had one? I think I may. i was deadlifting a week ago and I felt a twinge in my lower abdomen. At that point I reduced the weight and continued, but I could still feel something (not pain, but a pull/tightness sensation) in that area. So at that point I ended the work out. Actually I did some situps, and then ended it.
But its a week later and I can still feel that "something" in that spot. again, it doesn't hurt . . . but I've been wondering if it might be a small tear. I've neve had a hernia before . . . would I know it if I did (would it be very painful)? Should I worry about it?

TweetCryps, lol
TweetTwo types of abdominal hernias: 1. Reducable - can be pushed back in 2. Non-Reduable. Reducable hernias may not require treatment unless it becomes symptomatic, however, non-reducable hernias require surgery immediatly. If you notice any changes such as: cant have a bowl movment, extream pain when "bearing down", sweating, vomitting, confusion/dizzyness go straight to the ER. It could become strangulated and the blood supply could be cut-off possably causing gangrene (worst case). So in short, go get it checked out.
TweetI had a reducable hurnia: But it required surgery, a little thing that looked like a bad mitton. I don't know if anyone has played that game. But it is a little cone shaped thing they push through your abdomin to fill the torn tissues, cover it with a mesh so tissue grows back over it. I had a 6" incision on my lower abdomin, I was doing squats in high school, coach kept telling me to up the weights. I did, and the last time I added weight I never made it back up. I had a knot sticking through my shorts, and it wasn't a boner!lol. It will never go away on its on if it is a hurnia, they will need to fix it bro. They now have a procedure where they make 2 small incisions and fix it. Supposed to be alot better. When I do heavy weights I feel it pushing out. I also have one right above my belly button. not bad. I m just very careful not to put a big strain on it.
TweetHopefully its probably a strained muscle .I had that it feels like a tear but I would still be cautious and see a doc .
