Default Your Credit - Do you Check it?

Since I recently bought my car and had my credit pulled, I was wondering if everyone here stays on top of it?

When I didn't get a rate as low as I wanted, I applied for my credit report and it showed a "power bill" that was outstanding. The account was opened in Pennsylvania (I have never even been to that state) and it was deliquent. I lost my social security car last summer and so I was totally freaked out that my identity had been stolen. I disputed the report.

Has this ever happened to any of you?

i keep on top of it. but, on the issue of id theft, yes. somehow a crook got my cc # for my visa check card and spent ALOT of dough. threw my account in the red, bounced checks everywhere...the bank found out it was done over the net and insurance reimbursed me...took about 3mo. that sucked

No. But it happens a lot. I don't keep my SS card or any Credit Cards in my wallet. If I lose my my wallet I'm out a drivers license, some busines cards and my debit card. People are lazy so I try not to give them opportunities to take advantage of my hard work.

Credit theft happens all the time and especially if your ssn is stolen. Just so they don't have all your personal info they cant tie it to you. Be safe.

you should check yuor credit periodically, and dispute any mistakes you see, just and fyi, when you go to equifax, experian , or tranunion and pull your credit your self it is not considered an inquiry so it does not hurt yor scores.

equifax is the big one that is the one you really want to watch. when you order a report they also have online dispute sytems so you dispute anything that isn't correct.

This is not always true either. When you read a 3 in 1 credit report you will see that all 3 are used. However, Equifax and Experian get hit the most.

FALSE bro!!!!!!!! I have talked with credit reporting agencies and bank loan officers about this. It is a myth. As long as YOU yourself are the one checking it there is no negative effect on your score. It is good to check credit 3 to 4 times a year. I run mine every 4 to 6 months. For a free anual credit report from each of the 3 bureaus at www.annualcreditreport.com. This is a new law nation-wide that went into effect in Sept last year.

I don't give damn about credit. If you got more than 2M in the bank and investments. If i go to bank and they would deny me i would take all my assets out, then who would be out, lol! If i want somethig i buy it cash. Only thing i use the credit for is for sometimes the whey protein online and occaisional like i bought a snowblower with it and pay it off at the end of the month.
