I had a back surgery 11 yrs ago and before it I was in MAJOR pain due to my ciatic nerve being pinched from my slipped disk, but I never was on morphine. Don't get hooked on it bro. My best friend died from a morphine overdose, of course, he was using it as a rec drug, but still, be careful.

I have been on painkillers for the last week, they suck ass, they make you weak as hell. But I m slowly coming off of them, if it wasn't for my surgery I wouldn't have taken them.

Bro, you need to find an expert in core stability training. The first question to ask is "What do you know about training the transversus abdominus? If they have a blank look on their face, walk right then. If they answer with confidence they get them to teach you how to strengthen yours. The TA is the deepest muscle in the abdomin and it goes all the way around your torso. If yours is weak it will allow your organs to push out and your spine will be compressed some. If your TA is strong it will pull your organs up and in slightly. This will cause your spine to elongate and it will take some pressure off those degenerating discs. This is the same muscle that is used to do the vacuum pose of Arnoldsand Zanes day.

Let me know what you find out. I would tell you how to train it but it wont work. This is an area that requires face to face instruction. IMO

Sorry to hear that Mak. I take naproxin on training days - but that's for inflammation to prevent mild pain. Did you know that there is now a manmade disc that can replace your damaged one? I don't know anyone that has had this operation, but if you are going to go the surgery route you should check it out. I have a couple mildly damaged discs, and I know they can hurt like a ***** - I can't imagine your pain.

bro i had back surgery 14 years ago. i had L5 fused to the secrum. i was taking hydrocodone daily. during my rehab i was weened off them to toridol and then ibuprofen. it is amazing the clarity of mind you get back after getting off those drugs i am glad i am. morphine is like the king daddy of all pain meds and very addictive as you know.

i wish you well and will be thinking of you. you have no easy path before you. i wish you the best.

Good answer,.. now thats why I love this board. As far as pain,.. im allways in pain from training or snowboarding,.. but pain gives me a bittersweet satisfaction,... so I dont partake in masking it. :withstupi

I am on 72 hour fentanyl patch which is like 80 times more potent than morphine. Do I like it - no, but with my back I don't have much of a choice.
