Dieting and Common Sense
We all know the potential risks to health during dieting and should do so with care. Take precautions so that you remain in the best of health and keep up your spirit. Even though losing weight may be healthful in cases of obesity, do not let your dieting have a detrimental effect on your overall health.

Decreasing your caloric intake is depriving your body of necessary vitamins and nutrients that are needed to continue a healthy disposition. In addition, you may be consuming less fluids that are needed to process and eliminate waste from your body. Be consciously aware of these facts and evaluate how your diet is affecting consumption of life-giving nutrients.

While dieting, the body will react to the decreased caloric intake by burning off muscle and keeping the fat stores for later. This is a natural metabolic response. [Note: chromium picolinate has had the unique ability to help the body metabolize the fat instead of the muscle].

We have also seen that what we eat is as important as how much we eat. Lose fat by reducing the fat you consume. However, do not totally eliminate your fat intake. Keep in mind that when not consuming fat you will be absorbing less of the oil-soluble (fat-soluble) vitamins* (vitamin A, D, and E).

Finally, exercise will help keep you fitter and healthier. Don’t over do it, exercise properly for your age and physical condition.

Remember, while dieting**, take the right kind of supplemental vitamins along with a daily vitamin, drink sufficient fluids, and get the right amount and kind of exercise. It may help to count calories – but most importantly, act sensibly and keep down the stress.

*Note that because of their fat solubility, these vitamins can produce toxic effects in the body when absorbed at a high concentration. We considered this when we formulated our anti-oxidant tablet product containing vitamin E. Our PolyANTOXTM tablets contain only water soluble vitamin E (vitamin E succinate) which is safer, easier to absorb, and just as beneficial to the body. In addition, this product contains beta-carotene and selenium.

**Note: may we suggest trying our herbal, vitamin and mineral combination product Diet Therapy® to help you lose weight. Designed for maximum weight loss, it contains Citrin®, chromium picolinate, vanadium, and vitamin B3 (niacinamide).
