When do you guys and gals consume your post workout drink? I take mine immediately after my workout. Or do you wait 30 to 60 minutes before taking it?

I just read an article that said you should wait 30-60 minutes after your workout to allow your system to return to normal for proper absorbtion of protein.

Just woundering your thoughts on this.

I take mine like 10 minutes after. I just take a shower and then drink it.

I have read so many different takes on when to drink your shake it gets confusing. What i settled on was drinking one before working out. Doin my workout and then right after finishing drinking my creatine then eating a meal about 30 min after done working out. The meal is usually a cpl chicken breasts and a quart of milk. The reason for doin this without gettin all technical is it works for me. I have put on muscle faster doin this and the mirror and the scale dont lie. Besides ive read a bunch of the pros do it this way and they have gurus helpin them so i cant be to far off.

I take mines as soon as I'm done with my workout as well. I've also read various articles that give various suggestions. Like anything else that is not written in stone, just do what you feel is right. Then switch it around and try something else and compare the results for yourself. I sometimes drink mines during my workout when I make an 80 gram shake. My body won't be able to digest all 80grams of protein so I just sip it throughout my workout. I just get a bit too lazy because I feel full after drinking half of it.

      Question...

If it's just a 'cardio' day, what should I have as a 'post workout' meal/shake? Just protein? Protein and carbs? How soon after?

      Thanks!

I usually have a protein/carb bar before my cardio workout and a protein drink right after .

Ok, thanks I usually do my cardio first thing in the AM before any meals... So I wasn't sure if I should eat my 'typical' first meal consisting of oats and egg whites, or if I should omit the oats?.. and have them with meal 2 a few hours after the cardio instead?

I have raed that if you do workout first thing in the morning, that you should workout on an empty stomach. I personally have to have something in my tummy or I feel sick to my stomach. I think that if I were you I would go ahead and have the oats to because you do need the carbs for energy.

On my cardio days I get my cardio in first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Immediately afterward, I consume a high protein/low carb meal. Something like this would be typical for me after cardio:

      40 grams whey protein shake
      10 grams of L-Glutamine
18 grams of egg protein (6 egg whites)
      1/2 cup oatmeal
