I don't know the answers to your question but if it wasn't for bad luck you'd have no luck at all. Damn that sucks bro. I hope it all goes well for you and a wish you a speedy recovery. Keep your head up.

i had it done a couple years ago ...they did mine with a scope they just made a small cut in the belly button inserted the scope made the repair ...they typically use a mesh type material the strengthen the area where the tear accured. i was back to work in 2 days ....as far as back in the gym i dunno the answer for that one...you use your stomach for just about every excerise you do....you may be resigned to just cardio for a week.

Depends on how big of a hernia it is.

Typical recovery is 1 week to be fairly normal and back to work (if not a physically demanding job) and 1 month before working out or any real physical exertion.

Hey bro, I found out a few months ago from my personal doc that I had one also. Its not causing me alot of pain just kinda more like a little discomfort. I just happen to work out with a gastro-intest. specialist and he laid me down on the bench in the gym and checked me out one night. He said no bigger than it is he would not consider surgery at all. He said 1 in 3 men in America have one and then half of the ones that have them aren't even aware of it. He is like family to me and would never tell me wrong. He said that tons of doctors recommend patients to have surgeries that aren't even neccessary for these types of hernias. He said that most guys can live with them forever but if it did start to cause alot of pain then and only then should you have the surgery. I would suggest you get a second opinion before they cut you, I did and I'm so glad that I did. I started doing lighter deadlifts and exercises that really make me blow out my gut and things are looking better and I'm feeling better. He monitors me still just to make sure that everything looks good also. So far so good.
