TweetWhen you are experiencing pain-headache, backache, injury, arthritis, or other cause-what do you do? Let's not kid ourselves.....we all reach for an aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, or other pain reliever. We use pain relievers, called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs, because they work! NSAIDs are effective in reducing pain, but there is a mojor downside. Research shows these over-the-counter pain medications create gut permeability (Leaky Gut Syndrone) which is the leading cause of illness and even chronic disease such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, asthma, allergies, and arthritis. Other substances that have been shown to assault the gastro-intestinal (GI) tract in a similar manner are antibiotics, soft drinks, food additives and alcohol. However, we can protect ourselves when we take any of these harmful substances. Before you think, "Oh, i don't have this," consider how very common Leaky Gut Syndrome (LGS) is. This condition afflicts approximately 70% of the population. LGS is a condition in which the intestinal lining is more permeable then normal.. This compromised intestinal barrier means a compromised immunity. It has been shown that up to 90% of all disease enters our body through our GI tract. Without a healthy intestianal barrier, infectious pathogens (bacteria, viruses, yeasts, and fungi) and allergens can more easily gain access to the body. According to Leo Galland, M.D. author of Power Healing, "Altered intestinal permeability is a key element in the pathogenesis of manyu different diseases." Probiotics can't prevent this GI destruction...they do little more than just crowd out the bad bacteria. Fortunately, medical research now shows that you can prevent the GI damage that NSAIDs and other harmful substances cause by taking colostrum at the same thime. Colostrum (the first food of life) is what Mother Nature provides the newborn to prepare a healthy intestinal environment and provide a protective barrier against disease. Studies show that colostrum from dairy cows can also provide us, as adults, with these same benefits. NSAIDs increase gut permeability by approximately threefold, even when taken for a short term of 1-7 days (Bjarnason et al., 1986). However, when colostrum is taken along with the NSAIDs, there is not any increase in gut permeability! Scientists have attributed this to the numerous anti-aging factors that occur naturally in the colostrum. In London last year, Raymond J. Playford and his team of researchers at the Imperial College School of Medicine conducted studies showing that colostrum keeps the GI tract from becoming more permeable, even while taking NSAIDs. Playford summarized, "Research examining the potential benefits of colostrum for a wide variety of gastroenterological conditions shows encouraging results, and we envisage that these products will be used in standard clinical management within the next decade.. "Colostrum is the ideal solution for Leaky Gut Syndrome," states highly-respected gastroenterologist Dr. Donald R. Henderson. "Because clolstrum reaches the gut while its components are still viable, its immunoglobulins and other factors can attack the offending pathogens in the intestines and prevent them from causing damage. The anti-aging factors have anti-inflammatory action and also help repair damaged cells in the lining, decreasing cellular spacing, and thus preventing further leakage". While taking colostrum to heal the GI tract, you may find that you no longer need pain medication. Unlike other therapies, colostrum is the only known natural source of anti-inflamatories and healing components copable of stopping the progression of various diseases. This may eliminate the need for future pain relief. Colostrum is potentially the most important insurance for your future health. So, if you are going to reach for that pain reliever, make sure you reach for colostrum, too. It is also very good for a healthy immune system.
