TweetMerry Christmas hey?
Sorry to hear it LIC. So I guess retirement is not an option?
TweetPlease pray for my family!!! Just found out last night from my mom that my dad lost his job effective Feb. 28, 2005. He was part of the latest 1,300 person AOL downsizing. And no he doesn't have a ton of AOL stock to live off of. All know is far as what he did for them is manage and over see the "Religion & Ethics" Forum. I guess a sysop so to say. I don't know that there is a great demand for people in that field especially ones who are 62 years old. So I don't know what he will do for employment. Before AOL he was always in retail management either at fast food or electronic places like Circuit City. I really hate to see him have to go back to that at 62 yrs. of age because it will drive his health into the ground.
So anyway, I'm VERY WORRIED so please pray for my parents that all works out. And don't just say you will if your not going to. It only only takes a few seconds to close your eyes and whisper a prayer in your thoughts.
AND PLEASE, NO "HE CAN GET A JOB AS A WALMART GREETER" TYPE OF SNIDE COMMENTS. I'm just not in the mood for it even though I know your joking. Thank you all for being here as always.

RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.
Hindsight is always 20/20. But looking back it's still a bit fuzzy.
TweetEverything happens for a reason
Sorry for the loss of job for your dad
TweetMy wife and i will pray for him and your family. One question: Did he have any retirement funds or how much longer did he have till retirement? This is very sad. My wife knows what it is like. Her father was perm lay off form being a hourly supervisor of payroll at a steel manuf. He was short two yrs of retirement benefits and lost it. Luckly he had savings. I think it is sad when big corporation giants take advantage of ppl that are almost retirement age so they don't have to pay pensions and retirement benefits. They could at least give them something to live on since they put in all those yrs.
Tweeti got u large and i will pray for him and beleive me i wouldnt like my dad to work as a greeter or whateve as well....
Tweetthere would never be jokes about a serious issue bro....i'm really sorry to hear this....i wish i could do something to help....best wishes to u and ur family
TweetI'll remember your family in my prayers, a similar thing happened to my 60yr old uncle. Now he works for his son, hows that for an ego check?
Tweetill keep him and your family in prayer something will come along...like rado said, everything happens for a reason. Im sorry
TweetThanks everyone. And no there is no retirement or savings. I grew up poor for lack of better words with a father who did not make wise choices about money, savings, etc when he and my mom were in their early years thereby laying the foundation for a hard life financially. He will have to work until he physically can't any longer and the I suppose my brother and I will their retirement. The good flip side to all this was that he constantly drilled into my head to get an education, save money, etc., etc. so I don't end up in his shoes 30 years down the road.Originally Posted by mick-G

TweetYep, You're in our prayers as well. I went through the same thing this time last year when AT&T bought out U.S. Cellular.....I got the last laugh though. I took a job with Cingular and how about Cingular just purchased AT&T right before I left... Anyways, things do happen for a reason so don't worry just yet.
TweetGotcha bro! Their on my prayer list and I'll send some prayers up tonight. Atleast he does have some time to look. I'd be pissed as hell if someone didn't give my parents some kind of grace period. God Bless!!
TweetYour parents will be in my thoughts and prayers LIC.
