I have some good news and bad news.

      GOOD:

I stopped smoking about a month ago. I'm doing pretty good with the attitude and all, but.............

      BAD:

I've gained about 7-8 pounds in the month I quit smoking.

I've always heard that quitting smoking causes a lot of people to replace the cigs with food. It's the oral addiction. I need help in losing the weight and maintaining my sanity and fitness. Some suggestions and incuragement would be appreciated.

      I'm 43yo, 5'10".

Well nicotine is one of the more potent appetite suppressants, so you're likely to be eating a bit more. Of course, its easier to lose 10lbs than to quit smoking, so you've accomplished goal #1. Not to mention Id rather have some extra pounds to shave off as opposed to lung cancer, so you win again.

      Whats your diet/cardio/weight training like?

      Unhappy Workouts

I walk on a tread mill for about 45min - 1 hr, 2-3 times a week. Light weights - presses, curls, overhead pull downs, tricep pushes, 100 sit-ups, 1-3 times a week. I also play softball once a week thru the spring and summer. I have a pool and swim most every weekend depending on the weather. I'm not always consistant on my excercises but want to start doing better. I would say I'm through bulking now and want to cut down some.

I usually eat most anything but within reason, very few sweets.

all you need to do is eat clean. depending on how much you eat you can either gain or lose weight by eating healthy. gaining weight wont be bad if your gaining muscle mass. if you eat clean and work hard in the gym you should be ok. simple as that

Believe it or not "Smoke Away", like on the radio commercials. Got it at Wal mart cheaper.
