R-ALA is one of the best supplements anyone could use IMO.

As far as vitamin/mineral supplements go these are on the top of my list

Multivitamin (a good one, most are crappy, I like Now's multivitamins, they usually use bioavailable forms)
      Calcium, 500-2000 mg
      Magnesium, 400-1000 mg
      Potassium, 100-500 mg
      B complex
Antioxidant vitamins: C, E, and beta carotene
Zinc, 10 mg (especially if your multivitamin contains an inorganic form)
