TweetFrom the FDA
https://www.fda.gov/ora/import/traveler_alert.htm
FDA personnel may use their discretion to allow entry of shipments of violative FDA regulated products when the quantity and purpose are clearly for personal use, and the product does not present an unreasonable risk to the user. Even though all products that appear to be in violation of statutes administered by FDA are subject to refusal, FDA personnel may use their discretion to examine the background, risk, and purpose of the product before making a final decision. Although FDA may use discretion to allow admission of certain violative items, this should not be interpreted as a license to individuals to bring in such shipments.

A new bill was recently passed by Congress that amends a portion of the Controlled Substances Act (21USC956(a)). This amendment allows a United States resident to import up to 50 dosage units of a controlled medication without a valid prescription at an international land border. These medications must be declared upon arrival, be for your own personal use and in their original container. However, travelers should be aware that drug products which are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration may not be acceptable for such importation. FDA warns that such drugs are often of unknown quality and discourages buying drugs sold in foreign countries. For further information visit the FDA'S Office of Regulatory Affairs Website.
but customs is who you are dealing with at the border not the fda
and the customs page says up to 50 units of a controlled sub. woohoo! this wont work for vet gear though.
If this is not what you wanted to know then be more specific.

Tweetno prob with those, they are not controlled substances. I have walked them over many times. they might be nosy and ask what they are for but you dont have to tell them...just say "doctors orders and my medical problems are private thank you."
or tell them your mom or girl has breat cancer. That works to shut them up too.
Tweetthank you for the useless comment.
if it has a point it was missed by all.
you're from north carolina...what the hell would you know-nothing you have made that clear
"the last thing you want to do'??? do u have a reason?
nobody said anything about pissing them off. I suppose you would let a cop search your house without a warrant just cuz they ask and you dont want to piss them off huh? he is not violating any laws, there is NOTHING any one can do about not breaking the law. plain and simple.
maybe u should read the links i gave him, and when u dont like their answers you can go bicker w/ customs IT IS NOT ILLEGAL.PERIOD.
you have made your lack of border experience clear to everyone now. good day.

Gearjunky is only an imaginary character
I realy weight 135lbs and never used a dumbell in my life.
TweetLet's keep it informative please, derogatory comments are not inline with a productive atmosphere. THanks.
TweetYOUR RIGHT...I HAVE NO CLUE WHO I AM TALKING TO, AND I DONT CARE...NEITHER DO YOU.
ONCE AGAIN DO U HAVE A POINT. I WONT ASK AGAIN.
I am right and you are wrong. Gearjunky found my answer amusing. AND THE BOTTOM LINE IS ITS GOOD SOLID ACCURATE ADVICE, and u have said nothing to the contrary. If ever questioned about anything by LE, u should keep your mouth shut. ask a mod. Nobody asked you to chime in on a topic with a useless pointless post so maybe you are the one who should be keeping their mouth shut. boards are for sharing information, you had nothing to offer to this thread, you told him nothing.PERIOD.
I wont call u names everyone is thinking them in their head...NOBODY SAID ANYTHING ABOUT BRINGING BACK GEAR IN FACT HE SPECIFICALLY SAID HE WAS NOT GOING TO.....WHAT IS YOUR POINT WHAT IS YOUR POINT WHAT IS YOUR POINT WHAT IS YOUR POINT WHAT IS YOUR POINT WHAT IS YOUR POINT WHAT IS YOUR POINT WHAT IS YOUR POINT WHAT IS YOUR POINT
how is that smuggling, to legally declare legal prescription meds hmm better lock up all those old people that take the "pharmacy run" busses from PHX to nogales. oh wait you dont know about those your in north carolina!!!
Regardless, I am done here, he got his answer.
Control your roid rage...BOY
TweetIF it's not a controlled substance (like gear), customs will allow you to take 50doses (or a 30day supply whichever they choose) across.
So vet gear, or anything that cannot be perscribed by a US physician will not be allowed. Or any gear for that matter.
They could potentially take your non-controlled drugs if they do not have a valid DIN number.
PM me for more info...this thread is closed.
RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.
Hindsight is always 20/20. But looking back it's still a bit fuzzy.
TweetI've since been informed that alot of what AZ1 has stated is true. Last time I checked, customs would rarely let you through if you claimed your gear.
My bad. Az1 I owe you an apology...I tried to send it already but can't seem to get a PM through to you.
