It's safe if you use an alias (not your real name). The problem is that if you use an alias and for some reason you need to cancel the money order, your SOL. You need ID to get the money back.

I prefer cash in an envelope, shipped with tracking number.

y would it be a problem using ur real name? all the computer stuff is logged so they can find out who sent it anyway. Also, sending it online you have to supply your credit card info so you kind of have to use your real name, no?

You can walk up to a western union shop, put a stack of bills on the counter, give them a fake name, and send it off. THAT's safe...

Online using a CC isn't a good idea for the reason you stated.

Definitely not a wise decision buying anything illegal via credit card. You just wind up leaving a paper trail.

Sometimes they'll ask for I.D. at Western Union. I believe the first time I ever used them they asked to see I.D. All the subsequent times they've never asked. I wasn't obtaining anything illegal though, so it was no biggie.

It's up to you.... If you use your real name, and the guy dies in a car accident the same day you send the money...you'll be able to get the money back. BUT, if he gets busted...the police can track it back to you.

If you use a fake name, you don't have to worry about cops...but good luck getting the money back in the event the order doesn't go through.

They only ask for an I.D. if the amount is $1000 or more, so I always send around $980 similar to the banks need to report any deposit or withdrawl of $10,000 or more

i hate using western union for one reason. sources usually tell you to put on a test question and answer so that they dont have to show ID. Fine. but everytime i go into western union i will tell them specifically to put on the test question; it is very important. do they do it? never. not one time have they put on the question like i asked. i always have to call western union customer servive and have them add it. bastards piss me off.

It is pretty damn expensive. Moneygram isn't much better though.

I don't know where you guys go to Western Union but I've sent several funds through them and it doesn't matter what amount....Never had to show an ID and I've been everyone from Jimmy Carter to Andre 3000.....LOL
