This is a quick and simple one. ( I think )
As far as protein powders go, whey in particular, is there a real difference in bioavailability between an isolate source, and a concentrate source?
Yes...I'm still very early into the learning curve here. Please feel free to educate away.

      Never mind, I found it...

Actually, dollar for dollar, protein supp's work out to be cheeper than their real food counter parts. At $1 for 30-40 grams of protein, that's about $3-$4 cheeper than the steak I'd rather be eating.

Copy/pasted from a Fit to Print Artcle:

In our last issue we discussed some of the differences between whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate, we explained some technical differences that affect percentage of protein and stomach suitability. I would like to elaborate on this topic and show you in black and white the macronutrient comparison. we will start with a single serving size of chocolate interactive whey concentrate. A 25 gram serving size yields 18 grams of protein 2 grams of carbs and 1.5 grams of fat. a single 25 gram serving size of chocolate whey isolate contains 21 grams of protein 1 gram of carbs and 0.3 grams fat, the overall differences are 3grams more protein 1 gram less carbs and 1.2 grams less fat for the iso....not much of a difference you say...but wait, lets compare a 2 lb canister and check out the results.36 servings per 2 lbs of whey concentrate yields 648 grams of protein, 72 grams of carbs and 43 grams of fat...not bad. 36 servings of whey isolate yields 756 grams of protein, (that's 108 grams more protein...but wait there's more ) 36 grams of carbs (that's half the carbs ) and 11 grams of fat (that's 32 grams less fat ) that's 432 calories less from the evil twins...wow those stats are start in to show you just what a significant difference there really is. now lets compare a full month at 3 scoops per day, which is what I use and what I recommend, 90 servings (a 5lb canister) over a month period of time would look like this 270 grams more protein for the ISO, 90 grams less carbs and 110 grams less fat ( that's 1350 less calories from the evil twins or a whopping 990 calories less from fat alone!!!!!!!!!) now you tell me if you could eliminate all those excess carbs and fats and add all that protein by switching only your choice of protein would you??? hmm.....I think you would. these differences compound over the months and can help you reach your individual goals more rapidly. So if you want to up your protein ISO whey is for you, if you want to decrease carbs and fats then ISO whey is for you. however if the bottom line is the almighty dollar then whey concentrate is a tremendous product at a great price. I will continue to recommend interactive ISO whey over whey concentrate because the benefits asily justify the higher price tag. Analyze these differences and make your own educated decision.
