Tweetif i understand correctly - the point of spiking insulin is to shut down cortisol and catabolic activity, and provide massive glycogen uptake - right?
now, if one is insulin resistant, will chowing down on sugar post-workout still shut down cortisol? IR has to do with how the cells admit insulin and uptake carbs - that's my understanding anyway. so presumably this part of the benefit of eating high-glycemic carbs after a workout would not happen. i guess i'm not sure of the relationship or mechanism between insulin and cortisol and what i should be doing.
ergo, i think there is a possibility i am insulin resistant. up until now it hasn't been much of an issue because cutting out sugar and flour and eating mainly low-glycemic carbs supports my fitness goals anyway... HOWEVER... i hear alot about spiking insulin post-workout by eating glucose or sucrose. i've avoided this practice because i figured it wouldn't work for me, but the fact is i don't know. granted i should go get some tests done and find out whether or not i'm really IR - but meanwhile - anyone knowledgeable on this topic?
if not i'll keep researching.

Tweetthanks, most explicit write-up i've seen on the subject of spiking. i was hoping someone here might have dealt with the IR issue already - looks like i'll be researching that some more. i don't mind being first
