      hiya lads,
i recently did a nutrition course and was told that following a workout i should consume 50grams of carbs and 17 grams of protein (a ratio of 3:1) straight after and again 1 hour later. 2 hours after training i can eat a solid meal.
i was told this is all the body can digest in one go after a training session, and also, the most protein the body can digest at ANY time is 30grams.
this goes against anything i've ever read on the subject of bodybuilding. is this bull**** or is there some truth to it? what amounts do you guys recommend?

Most nutrition professors are anti-protein. I found that out in college and grad school. This is a bit off IMO. I would consumer 20-25 grams of protein and 50 grams of carbs with my post workout shake. Then 30-45 minutes later have a rather large meal consisting of a good amount of essential fats, high to moderate protein and moderate carbs. This is what I do personally and have had great success.

I'm bulking right now.......so immediately after my workout I have 65 grams whey protein with 145 grams dextrose, and 1&1/2 hrs later I have the same ratio of pro to carbs, only with whole foods.
