Tweetis there any reason to take the T4 with the T3? which one do most people use in combination with HGH?
Tweetno need to take them both most use t-3 its much better
TweetT3 is superior to T4, that's what I have heard. Also T4 might shut you down forever, that what I heard... but;
Let's pretend a following situation - I have unlimited and LEGAL access to armor thyroid, and it's cheap as hell. I could buy 1000 tabs of it very very cheap. But I can't find raw T-3 anywhere, and if I do, the price is pretty high, around 50$ for 30 tabs (30 x 100mcg)
I have heard stories saying T-4 is the shittiest thing ever, but under the above circumstances, would you think it would be ok to buy the T3/T4 combo (Armour thyroid). I'm mainly concerned about the rumors that say T-4 shuts your personal production forever bla bla... But damn, armour thyroid is just so cheap for me. I have used armor thyroid once, and it worked great, I just had to take lots of pills per day (6 per day if I remember correctly).
So my question is, am I hurting myself permanently with a T-3 / T-4 combo, COMPARED TO JUST TAKING T-3???
Now for the part that will get me flamed:
And, if I ruin my thyroid, so what? I mean, I have to take thyroid medicine for the rest of my life, but so what? I'm already under a full-year medication for my allergies and I feel ok... Please don't take this as cockiness of a young newbie, because I'm not one, I just like to know what's so bad about having to support your thyroid for the rest of your life. The only side I see is the liver and kidneys getting stressed from the tabs, but I don't think that T3 or T4 would be very liver toxic. Actually I see taking thyroid medicine as a good thing because that way I can control my weight very easily. If I get excess weight, I just up my dose for a few weeks. What do you think, do I sound like a total wacko?
PS. It's not that I am looking for trouble and trying to mess my thyroid deliberately, but I'm just weighing the risks, and if I mess with my thyroid, I'd like to know the worst case scenario, which would be that my thyroid shuts down and I go 24-7 with thyroid medication. And I just can't see anything negative with permanent thyroid medication except having to take pills in the morning.
Please comment. Thanks!
TweetI just found some info Armour thyroid vs. T3, I'll post it here if that would help anyone...

TweetSomeone please tell me how to properly take T-3 to help speed up my metabolism.

TweetIf you mean the question where I asked whether it's really that bad to be on thyroid medication or not, then I'd like some comments too.Originally posted by girl_wonders

I was 101% sure that I'd be flamed in two seconds for sounding cocky, and not knowing that drugs are always bad, inspiring newbies with bad ideas etc etc.
But really, what's the big deal in permanent thyroid medication? Many people live happy lives taking medication for a chronic illness, and I just don't see T-3/T-4/Armour thyroid or whatever the doc would prescribe as very hazardous to my health. I see people like my father who don't work out at all, eat shitty food, and still they are doing ok thru the 60's so what difference does it make if a person with a workout schedule and a pretty clean diet would have to take one more pill per day for the rest of his life? I think I would still be in a better shape and COULD live longer than most of my friends and relatives.
And the fact that the person could literally control his bodyweight by adding or substracting from the daily dose sounds very nice. The only risk I see is bumping the dose and eating like shit but there's a thing called discipline and self-control and if you don't have that, then it's a different story.
Comments please, I think I have a point... maybe... ?

TweetTrigger there's a shitload of threads on T3, have you done a search? i'm reasonably sure your question has been answered already. there's a T3 FAQ out there somewhere on the board too.

TweetTrenboli it may be that noone has an answer for you. The only thing i can think of, is that our medical/scientific understanding of the endocrine system and the thyroid's role in it, is provisional. When it comes to our bodies, noone has all the answers. Your thyroid may play a bigger role in your body's systemic balance, your immunity, your ability to bodybuild, and your overalll health than just churning out T3. So - it's a definitely a gamble.
And - it's preference. Some people really don't like the idea of being dependent on an external substance ALL their lives without a choice. If you've ever been addicted to, say, cigarettes (i was) it really does suck *not having a choice* not to smoke (or experience great discomfort). similarly, if you were dependent on T3 supplements, you would not be able to skip taking it without experiencing great discomfort (weight gain). anything you HAVE to do can get pretty old.
However, if someone is obese and facing a plethora of related health problems, or if they have their diet and exericise in order and simply are genetically "stuck" in some high-bodyfat condition, or if someone is contemplating surgery and considering T3 as an alternative to surgery, and if the risk of thyroid shut-down is not overstated (some claim it is overstated, but i've heard anecdotal evidence that states otherwise - i'm not convinced) -- if if if -- i can sure see someone taking that gamble. Easily.
