      Default t-3 thyroid shutdown

Secound time doing t-2 the first time did it with no as it was done post cycle and I was more then happy with results this time done with as in the process of ramping down and I get blood work done and the doc tells me my thyroid is shut down and I can see it the amount of fat I have put on in such a short period of time is enough to make me cry, my question is should I just stop the ramp down and let my body kick back in its own production or is it important to continue to down ramp. My belief has been that the reason for the down ramp is to help with rebound so you do not put on a bunch of fat but since I already have do I need to continue?

how long have you been taking the T3?
The burden of originality is one that most people don't want to accept. They'd rather sit in front of the TV and let that tell them what they are suppose to like, what they're suppose to buy, and what they're suppose to laugh at. You have Beavis and Butthead telling you what music you're allowed to like and not like, and you've got sitcoms that have canned laughter that lets you know when to laugh if you're too stupid to know when the joke is. People are too lazy and too stupid to think for themselves because America has raised them that way.

I'm also curious about this statement. Please explain, as I was aware of a shutdown period.

LONG TERM USE OF T3 WILL ULTIMATELY DAMAGE YOUR THYROID

This notion was dispensed with in Mind & Muscle #10. Here is a brief recap of the relevant findings.

The first study that looked at thyroid function and recovery under the influence of exogenous thyroid hormone was undertaken by Greer (7). He looked at patients who were misdiagnosed as being hypothyroid and put on thyroid hormone replacement for as long as 30 years. When the medication was withdrawn, their thyroids quickly returned to normal.

Here is a remark about Greer's classic paper from a later author:

"In 1951, Greer reported the pattern of recovery of thyroid function after stopping suppressive treatment with thyroid hormone in euthyroid [normal] subjects based on sequential measurements of their thyroidal uptake of radioiodine. He observed that after withdrawal of exogenous thyroid therapy, thyroid function, in terms of radioiodine uptake, returned to normal in most subjects within two weeks. He further observed that thyroid function returned as rapidly in those subjects whose glands had been depressed by several years of thyroid medication as it did in those whose gland had been depressed for only a few days" (8)

These results have been subsequently verified in several studies (8,9) and a large number of trials where T3 was used to treat obesity. So, contrary to what has been stated in the bodybuilding literature, there is no evidence that long-term thyroid supplementation will somehow damage your thyroid gland.

Myth my ass I had blood work done last week, my doc calls and tells me there is a problem my thyroid is shut down so now I just got back from the office giving blood again with another appointment to see the doc tomorrow. Now a little history Iam sorry it was a mistake on my part I meant t-3(cynomel) I was on it for 2 1/2 weeks when I had blood work done for my b/p I was on nothing else at the time so it could not be due to something else. I ramped up to 100mcg over a week and a halfs time period and when I got tested I took my last dose early in the morning(4am) and then did not take the t-3 the morning of the test cause I knew it would show up but I was not sure of the exact half-life so I had my b/w done at 6:30pm the next day and then took my next dose. Dont get me wrong I am not saying that it is shut down permenatly but it is for now but I am hopeing in the next two weeks that it bounces back to normal. My question was that since I already know that it is shut down is there a need to continue to ramp down the dosage cause it is y belief that the ramp down is to help fight yur thyroid from shutting down and helping against the rebound effect of gaining the fat plus some or can I just stop and let my body regulate on its own cause its to late. So in conclusion what I am saying is I dont know if it has caused permenant shut down but I know for a fact it has caused temporary shut down, I guess I will find out.

Your thyroid is not shut down; it is just not releasing any thyroxin (T3) into your system because you have an abundance of artificial T3 in your bloodstream. Your thyroid gland works in a negative feedback loop, i.e. the more you have the less it releases, the less you have the more it releases.

Your thyroid and hypothalamus are just trying to maintain homeostasis in your body. Your thyroid gland also produces a hormone called calctonin, if it was damaged you would be missing it as well.

exactly what sweet said. Its not shut down per say, its taking time off since your giving your body the hormone so there is no need to produce it just like when you do aas. You do need to continue to ramp down so the body knows that your not producing enough and that will kick the thyroid on again. I really think you should tell the doc what your doing before he tries to give you something you dont need. Explain to him what your using, how long you have been using it. I bet he is real conserned about your situation and about ready to prescribe t-4 for you to take for the rest of your life. You now have to tell him what you have been hiding so he knows what to do/give you if anything.... You may just have to wait a month and see if it changes. And dont freak out your still taking it so your normal out put will be low if not shut off untill you stop taking it..

I stopped taking it and if he prescribes me t-4 great the insurance company will pay for it but not if I tell him what I am using. His exact words to me were "your thyroid gland has stopped working for some reason I want you to get some more blood work so I can figure out why" thats what leads me to believe it has shut down.

Sweet: NAILED IT and 3Vandoo put up an informative (and CORRECT) post.

Tell your doc you have been trying to lose weight so some friend introduced you to a supplement that contained some sort of Thyroid stimulant in it (tell him it was called t2 or something)play STUPID. Then laugh and say "HA, must have worked"----play it off

      Here: https://bodyforlifestore.com/t2probybiotest.html

Leaving your doc stumped like this can cause problems and endless tests upon tests bro.

Going in to the doc unprepared like you did can cause problems. ALWAYS have an excuse ready. EXPECT your doc to review your lab work and follow up with a phone call. He's just doing his job.
