      When do you recommend taking ALA? I'm taking it with my DNP and i didn't know whether to take it with food or without....

      Take 100-200mg before meals. If its a higher carb meal then you take 200mg or so. I think they say 200mg for over 40g.

      Be careful with that DNP stuff man.... shit is harsh

      I would not suggest taking ALA at those times.

      You know why the studies show that ALA does not improve glucose disposal in insulin sensitive Zucker rats? Because they are encountering very low mitochondrial oxidation.

      The other studies where ALA worked were in insulin resistant rats. It worked because they have high oxidative stress rates due to being diabetic.

      Are you having high oxidative stress before a meal when you are sedentary? No

      During weight training? Yes

      I would suggest 300mg pre weight training, 300mg during, 300mg post, along with plenty of dextrose or maltodextrine in your pre workout shake.

      A couple biochemistry student's I know tested their blood glucose levels when taking ALA and not taking it around workout times. Their blood glucose was significantly lowered. However it wasn't lowered so much during times of low oxidative stress.

      (But I can't say more or I'll let the Cat out of the bag for the article Layne is making--going to be great!)
