TweetWas this that incident in California I briefly heard about this morning?
I think they should be allowed to drive, so long as they have to re-take their drivers test every 3 years once they hit the age of 65.
No, they shouldn't be allowed to drive AT ALL.
Yes, they should be allowed to drive like you and me.
TweetDid you guys see this shit? I was furious when I heard this old man killed all 9 people because he confused the gas with the brake. I catch myself wanting to kick this old man in the ass until he shits blood, .:2gunsfiri then I think about my grandmother and how good she has been to me and I feel pity for the guy. It's a tough call. But put yourself on the shoes of the mother who's baby was killed in front of her.....Do you guys think that elderly people (over 70) should be allow to drive.
I think NOT. For their own safety and others.

RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.
Hindsight is always 20/20. But looking back it's still a bit fuzzy.
Tweetyah they can still drive...but retake the test...I like got geared idea.

TweetYeah that's the one. It's horrendous. They guy hit a crowded farmers market at 60mph. MV makes them renew their license in person at 70 but no driving or physical test...

Tweetif you want to keep people safe on the roads statistically people over 65 have a fraction of the accidents that 16-18 year old drivers have. also they are more likely to be fender benders. teens tend to go fast and speed kills. driving accidents are the #1 cause of teen fatalites in the USA. i dont think kids should drive until they are 18.
TweetDidn't vote but my .02
When I couldn't drive for three weeks because of my neck surgery, it was the most helpless feeling in the world, knowing that you couldn't hop in the car and just go.
My mom is still alive but can not drive because of macular degeneration (eyesight fuzzy in the middle of the eye, outer edges are clear) and I feel bad for her because she has a fraction of the independence that driving allows. It is very important for most seniors to have that independence. And remember, if they can't drive, it means you might have to drive them around all the time. I hate having to do that, even if it's my own mom, a huge pain in the a**.
Although what happened was a terrible, always be cautious in allowing the goverment to decide whether you are fit to drive or do anyhting else for that matter. God willing, most of you may have to take a proficiency test one day if that is the case.
I think seniors (say 70) should be tested every other year on basic driving skills. Jipped is a 110% correct in saying that teens are the worst drivers out there and cause the majority of accidents.

TweetAgreed too. To many teen aholes out there playing stupid and making my insurance rate go up (25 and it does affect me)
TweetCOULD NOT AGREE MORE, 16 IS WAY TO YOUNG. and i do think elderly should drive but be retested. plus man its an ACCIDENT, shit happens, its not like the guy said hey lets kill 9 peopleOriginally posted by jipped genes

Tweetactually your right, i'm an insurance agent in CT, and it is well known that NJ is a mess along with NY
TweetHey, New York isn't a mess, I love paying over $1700.00 for an '85 Prelude and '89 F 150, no collision, no fire, no theft (I wish SOMEONE would steal either, cheaper than junking them) and the least liability you can be legal with-no tickets, no accidents, no DWI.
Okay, all you kids start riding bikes again, no more driving.

TweetI've got a perfect record and have gotten discounts + being with Met Auto for many years and I still pay $1920 a year for full coverage...(leased car must have the shit sucks)
