TweetWent to the docs' yesterday and he said everything is healing nicely. I should be able to start running by the end of August and can start a little light upper body lifting in a week or two.
Thought you would like to see what they implanted in my neck.
The plate is just under 2" long and about 3/4" wide.

TweetThanks. I just posted on Superior about that - I have to fly Friday, I wonder if it will set the metal detector off?Originally posted by saturn
OOOOOHHHHH OUCH....You arn't going to have fun going through air port security any more are you?
Hope you have a quick recovery Morgan.
What I can't believe is they shoved that thing through a 3" sideways slit in my neck!

TweetDamn, it hurt’s just looking at that. I hope it doesn’t feel as bad as it looks.
BTW – how did you get copies of the x-rays? They wouldn’t let me have mine.
TweetNever really hurt that much-those vertebrae control the central nervous system motor functions.Originally posted by Drenten

What was happening was my hands were numb and weak-I couldn't open a jar of spaghetti sauce and my legs were wobbly-like someone else's were attached to me.
I got the X-rays from my regular doc-they're on loan, I need to return them or they charge me $50.00 a pop. I had to take these to the neurosurgeon

TweetWow...
Man... you gotta go to the next state over and complain to a doctor about having a stiff neck. Tell him that scar was from when you were a kid... then look at his face when he checks out the X-ray's!
Good luck on the recovery.
TweetThanks. BTW - looking at these X-ray reminded me to ask you if you made any more ribs lately? LOLOriginally posted by Got Gear?

Did the exact same thing as last time, except only 4hrs in the crock pot instead of 8. They were delicious!
RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.

TweetGood deal. Now you have to learn how to make hollandaise and bearnaise sauce!Originally posted by Got Gear?

TweetNo- this plate is not anywhere near as big as what you're describing only 2" long and 3/4" wide. Think i'm going to have trouble?Originally posted by Friggemall
Probably. My wife has a stainless steel hip and titanium shoulder. All the bells and whistles always go off on her. She will never go up in the StL arch again because they treated her very bad when she set theirs off. Seriously, it was one of the worst experiences of her life.
Did they give you a medical card stating you have the metal implant?
Sorry to hear that about your wife, that's a really lousy way to treat someone, absolutely no reason to do that.

TweetIf my belt buckle is enough to set those things off, the plate in your neck should be as well!
Just show em the scar.

TweetBro what did you do? My little brother was wrestling someone at a party Saturday night and he got put in a head lock and the dude fell with him in it and completely severed his spine. He should be in the middle of surgery right about now(Tues at 2:00). But it dosent look good. the Doc told us he will most likely never have any movement from the neck down. It was really sad when I seen him yesterday. He had these huge screws coming out of his head attatched to a halo. And he didnt look to good. It made me cry like a two year old to see him like that. I cant believe it. He is only 27 yrs old.
I live in my own little world. But it's OK. They know me here

I know what you're talking about the halo, one doc was thinking about that for me.
Try not to worry, it is possible that your little brother could make a good recovery, regardless of what it looks like now. Docs told me I could recover to only 75% of my hands or fully -it depends and no guarantees.
I'll say a prayer for you and your brother, hang tough.
