TweetHurricanes can be fun, i've been thru a few of them here in Houston/Galveston they are pretty common. Its fun to get a storm tracking chart and watch them. People usually board up their windows and the really weird people go stock up on water, flashlights, batteries, lanterns, candles, stupid stuff like that.

Tropical storm Allison hit Houston in June of 2000, it wasn't a hurricane, but tropical storms bring just as much rain, just less wind, it stalled over Houston and flooded everything. There were 18 wheelers floating down on of our major highways, it was really cool.

Also my sister got married in Galveston on June 9th and that was the day the storm was at its worst, the cameraman and most of the wedding party couldn't get to Galveston (it is an island) because of the flooding. Needless to say that must have been a sign from god, because the marriage didn't last very long, lol. I just realized i'm rambling on about nothing, i'll stop now.

Bro, if you've never lived in the south, its not just wind damage you have to fear. It's the terenchial rain that can lead to widespread flooding and storm surge that poses the biggest threat. I've lived in this area all my life and have been through some big ass storms.
