TweetCongrats Terminator Jr!
TweetJust got home from Houston and my 8 year old just took 1st place in the Texas State Greco Roman Wrestling Championships. He also got a 3rd place in Freestyle. He lost to the champion in freestyle by only 3 points and it was the 3 points my son gave him by making 1 mistake. I couldnt be more proud of him for winning his first title!
TweetCongrats Terminator Jr!
TweetCongradulations!
Where is it that your son trains at that young of an age? I've trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with a previous Wrestling state champ on varsity level. It was very intense to say the least. Good luck with your son and his future in the sport.
TweetRoman Greco Wrestling? Like Will Farrel on the Ladiesman movie?
congrats to your son.
TweetCongratulations!!! That's a really big deal!!! Great!
TweetYeah thats awesome. I am guessing (and anticipating) that the success of your children brings the greatest happiness.

TweetWe have wrestling teams all over the state of texas. They are mostly private clubs. In Texas, schools dont sponsor wrestling programs until high school. Wrestling is a great sport. My son has gained so much confidence in himself from it. It is also very intense to watch him compete. It is such a rush to see him do so well. I have also been considering getting him into Jiu jitsu or Judo. I think it would help him even excel further in his wrestling!Originally posted by bdubb

TweetI strongly suggest getting him into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu if you are looking for him to broaden his knowledge. Jiu Jitsu will open his eyes to many different approaches. I am not too keen on the rules of Wrestling, but I did see first hand how a wrestler and a BJJ student take different approaches on things. The wrestlers I trained with had a shock when they were getting tapped by mid level guys who where much smaller. After a month of training and adjusting they became extremely efficient with an extremely fast learning curve.
Depending on what part of town your on there are several schools around Houston. I was attending the one linked here.
