TweetI know a shit load of bros will say Dead lifts are important but I am not a big fan of them and feel they are more an old school training theory.
Personally I do them but with light weight to target the hams.
But to go as heavy as you can I really do not see or have read anything that would show they are a necessity for building thick legs.
I do presses and hack squat machines and my legs are one of the best features I have.
I have never felt that Dead lifts or squats are really needed and risk major back problems if you make a mistake!
I know due to I bulged my lower discs from squatting and were only using 315lbs!
