Never jump without a Cyprus. When you hear that thing pop behind your head it is a sobering experience. It took me 3 months to jump after I heard it the first time. I've never done static or tandem, always AFF. That's the way to go, especially if you can find a DZ that will do a twilight jump with O2 in the plane so you can jump at 25k feet.

Depend what kind of jumps you want to perform.

      civilian one?

well you have many possibilities, opening on exit, generally the jump is at 5000k, then you have the free fall at 13-15k.

      as for me.

my first jump was a static line jump from a C130, at 1300 feet.

Heart was racing like hell before, keeping remembering what my instructors told me.

suddenly I hear the jm, STAND UP!!!!!!

      hook up!!!!!!!!!!!

the fucking light was red then green and I hear go go.....
      out the door, 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004, 1005, look, release.......

      after that I was hooked

Free fall is the real jump of all jump.

first one was performed out of a civlian plane at 13 000k until the big day.

35 000 feet, we were a brick og 5 men going to exit. ram chutes we were all tied up...........

suddenly I hear the jump master to switch our air to our own reserve(from the main oxygen tank)

then you know its soon, we stand up.....

the door open and you see the sky, and earth, a bit round, a bit of clouds

      jesus fucking christ.....

then the light goes to red to green
and you know you have to jump,
      and vola

your body is freefalling toward the earth at 220km/h for 2min or so.......

you think about looking for your other soldiers are they at the proper range.

      watch altimeter, suddenly you see

      6100 6 055 6 010 600

5000 and you open the canopy and you hear that big VLAAAAAAAAK!!!!!
      and the shock............

      and you enjoy the view.

spot on...static line is the standard for military ops. What you call spy rigging, we call rappelling down here...that is good shit also

spy rigging is not the same as rappelling

You get hooked like in rappel, but you stay on the cord and fly with it.
then when you arrived at the LZ or DZ the chopter reduce speed or stop for some second times you hit the ground and release yourself.

for landing on top ot building it is one of the quickiest and best method.

the French developped the techniques with many operators involved. I've seen it with a full ops team of 8-12 people flying in grapes

STABO. We had 3-man teams in the Special Forces that did helicopter Stabo. Pretty cool when the guys on the outside mess up and don't keep you stable so you go spinning...

A cypress is a great thing to have when freefalling, but I never did get one. The cost is $1200 for something you hopefully never have to use. I trust myself now to cutaway and pull if I have to. Skydiving is an experience like no other. If you haven't done it, I highly recommend you at least do a tandem so you can experience freefall.
It's better to burn out, than to fade away...
