Well here goes. For the last couple of weeks I've been really shot up. I will need to have my C4/5 and C6/7 discs in my neck removed because their pressing up against my spine. Right now, my left hand is pretty useless (numb), my left leg drags, it takes me 10 minutes to climb stairs and all around sucks.

Hopefully got a good doc, and will be cut May 23rd. Recovery time is about 3-6 months before I can start lifting and running again.

Just as an aside note, I've been inactive for about 3-4 weeks and as far as muscle loss for me it took about two weeks for everything to start going flat. Have lost about 15 pounds and will most likely lose more before this is over.

Thanks to all for your support, its' meant a lot to me this last three months.

A bad back is probably the worst. But hopefully the surgery should make it better, and see my signature if you are worried about not being able to workout. Get your health back first and then you'll be able to workout and do whatever you want to do.

Thanks LM. You're getting a lot of mileage out of that sig these days J/K

One more thing - the wife had me served with divorce papers last Monday, what a *****! Only thing I'm worried about I'll be flat on my back while she's loose. Sort of like Misery, LOL

that sucks, because the main thing is while you are laid up, recovering, who is going to take care of you? When I hurt my back I really couldn't get out of bed, my gf at the time had to bring me food & the remote & stuff like that.

Prediction, you will be back at it in two months.
You are in such great shape, and after the pain is gone, and with your great eating habits recovery will be very fast, and then let's not forget old muscle memory, a much better memory than old brain, you'll be better than before.

      Good Luck

      Morgan....I feel for you!

My husband has had a double discectomy (sp?) in his neck a few years ago. Its rough for sure, but the pain relief he received instantly in his arm and head made it all worth it. It was a long recovery, and he had to wear that stupid hard plastic neck brace, what seemed like forever.....and he lost a ton of weight before and after the surgery.....it took the doctors months (about 20) to figure out that the problem was in his neck.....so, it just kept getting worse before they finally realized that he could not be at work. Then a year and a half after surgery he competed in his first bbing show and took second.

So there is hope. Keep your head up, and besides, this will give you plenty of time to visit with us while you are laying around recovering.

      Good luck!!!!

Thanks for that Kitten, my doc says about a week to 10 days in the cervical collar only. Told me not proven that any longer would help. The other doc I saw said 3-6 months in the collar and no activities for at least a year. Told her it sounded too conservative and found this doc instead.

I gotta tell all of you, I'm almost looking forward to getting out at this point. Never really realized what a drain it was on me to have to deal with my wife and her crap day in, day out.

Lots of luck to the moron who's doing her now, he's going to need it!

BB - between you, Trip, Pudgy, Auri, LM and everyone else it's a huge amount of support here. How could I not get better?

I have found a lot of friends here, and you guys have really helped me out enormously.

One of those things you try to put into words, and nothing really comes close.

      Except thanks.
