Re: Bicep
got a couple of buddies that have had the reattachment of the distal tendon. one has had both done, one had one and another friend of mine that didnt get it fixed. the one dude had it done way back in the day on one arm where they did extensive opening up and the surgery wasnt quite as delicate as now. that arm he isnt able to extend all the way but has full use and it looks normal other than the nasty scaring. the other arm he had done was more recently and it is completely good to go with no issues and only tiny scars. the other guy had his done last year i believe and has full range but cant completely supinate any more but it looks normal and his scars are tiny. both took 6 months plus for recovery and about a year to be back up to normal size and strength again. the one buddy that didnt do anything has a nasty looking peak but a really big gap at the bottom. he lost a lot of strength in his arm from the injury.
so from what i know if it is a distal injury it has to be repaired iot get all the strength back and for the arm to function correctly. if it is a detachment at the top by the shoulder then a lot of surgeons want even mess with it because it doesnt cause any loss of strength or use issues and is mainly cosmetic. the recovery is in total about a year. the best coa with surgery is to continue to train legs and the other side with maint work. i have seen people do this and not atrophy as bad on either side. hell their are pics and videos of dorain yates with his arm in a sling training for that reason. good luck man and being injured sucks ass
