A while ago, before I had this forum to check, someone told me about a steroid that encourages your body to grow it's vascular system (new/more veins) which in turn helped your muscles get more oxygen/nutrients etc..

Does anyone here know which steroid this guy might have been talking about and if/how it works?

grow new veins? don't know about that...maybe increase your red blood cell count or increase the diameter of current veins or taking AMP and looking more vascular, but adding new veins to your body? news to me.
There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.

Yea, you have a set route of veins in your body, from birth. It may vasodilate or increase red blood cell count (ie. anadrol) or just make you more vascular (ie. EQ), but hell cutting bodyfat will do that. Would be kind of scary to grow new veins....

well actually i have read that the more you use or stress different parts of your muscles your body will create vessels to carry blood to the normally under used part of your muscle, same way with your bones, the more that you strain, your body will build up certain parts of your bone to deal with the stress and make them stronger.

If you add more muscle or fat your body has to supply blood to that area. but this will not be seen as visible viens. mostly capilarries you cant. but you can increase blood supply, just as you can decrease it. If you go on a diet and lose fat, your body absorbs the blood supply route to the unused part's.

I want to stress the fact that I am not looking for more visible veins, I was more interested in increasing the delivery system for Oxygen and Nutrients to my Muscle tissue.

the only thing i can think of that you are talking about is capillary growth....i have seen and read about several studies that show with intense exercise over long periods of time, the size of our capillary beds increase, which is where the exchange of oxygen and CO2 and other waste products occur....

i did a bit of searching and couldnt find anything relevant. But, estrogen in nanomolar concetrations rapidly induced capillary growth in tumorous mammory tissue

With bone tissue, it's just bone replacement. Weight-bearing activity stimulates osteoblasts (cells that give rise to new bone tissue) to produce renewed bone tissue. But your bones are always "repairing" themselves......like skin (it sloughs off). There's osteoclasts that remove the aged tissue while the osteoblasts are producing. It's just stimulated more with weight-bearing stress like weights or sports etc.

I'm not sure about the vessels though.....new ones?

of course you build blood vessels, i don't see how you couldn't think that you could. If a person gains one pound of fat on their body, the only way to utilitze this fat is to create new blood vessels so when the fat is needed it is able to be used by passive diffusion. they say that for every pound of fat, your body creates a mile of blood vessels. I'm not sure what the amount is for muscle, but it was mentioned. i got the info off the Discovery Channel about a year ago.

You sure do grow new veins. Getting some removed (varicose) and doc told me new ones grow to replace lost capacity.

But thats when your losing veins, this does not mean it translates to muscles when they get bigger. More cappilaries yes, im still unsure about more veins though.

I'm just guessing here but I figure the body grows new blood vessels of any size because it senses it needs more capacity regardless of whether that's because it's capacity has decreased (loss of veins) or because it's need has increased (bigger muscles). If I were designing it that's what I'd do.

Thats exactly what I was thinking.........capillaries are one thing, I can swallow that one.

But veins and ateries? Vessels get smaller as they travel away from the heart......your body won't grow a new artery stemming from some random location on your heart
The cardiovascular system is like your skeleton.......it's pretty much a specific system that varies only slightly from one person to another. These systems have very specific jobs for specific reasons.....not something that just grows hog-wild because you go to the gym and lift weights
