I was putting a heavy DB down after a set of bench pressing, it got away from me, and I felt a pop in the bicep. Now it hurts to even open a door not to mention curls and rows. Not a glorious way to get injured. This ever happen to anyone else?

yep, and if you heard and felt a pop then you have most likely tore something in there. hopefully it was either scar tissue or only a partial. watch for dents and or holes/gaps. also when i hurt mine the pt and the coach i use both said to do light db curls every day for super super high reps. i am talking like 5 or 10 for sets of 50-100 for a few sets. that will flush it out and help it heal up much faster.

i know it sounds like a fantasy but i imagine scar tissue from years of pinchin breaking apart to make room for more muscle growth. In my dreams LOL. recovery is the name of the game.

My bicep popped real loud 15 years ago. Guys on the other side of the gym were going "holy shit what was that loud pop?"...Im laying on the ground holding my arm, which was totally deformed by the rupture and has been deformed ever since. It was the bicep long head and thats a tendon we dont need . A surgeon told me that reattaching the tendon would be cosmetic only so I said screw it, leave my bicep deformed. The deformed bicep actually looks cool . It was an improvement.lol

PS- I use the deformed bicep for arm selfies. It has a better peak than my good bicep

I lost virtually no strength at all with a totally ruptured bicep long head. If you rupture the bicep short head, thats way worse and is prob surgery

yep you are correct dzone. most surgeons wont even do a long head reattachment that isnt causing pain. the distal insertion is a must because that's where all your arm strength comes from. a buddy and client friend of mine has ruptured both of his. another buddy blew his out on a tough mudder and had to have it fixed immediately because his arm wouldnt curl at all. crazy how two points make that much of a difference

Did it bruise? I would say if it didnt turn black and purple, it is probably not ruptured and will heal on its own

No bruising D. i can curl my arm with nothing so it isnt keeping me from completing everyday tasks and i can muscle thru work. I thought I was cured this morning. My front door sticks and I went to open it with the injured arm and ouch. Rest, recovery, and healing. Still sucks tho. Bicep does so much on upper body lifts. even lower body lifts when loading plates.

I have some ink coming my way and its going to complete my 2nd arm sleeve. 1 week off to rest from the gym and heal that tat so it works out for me. How I feel after a week tho is what has me edgy. any thoughts on what to do? I was thinking ice, heat, and reacquaint myself with the treadmill along with some core work.

do not stop training man. that will make it worse and slow the healing down. keep training just be cautious on what you are doing and do the 50 or 100 rep sets when you get in there to make sure that area is nice and warm. i use and used a heating cream on mine. icy hot, saloon paas, horse linaments screaming hot toast and or artic balm. i put it on before i train every day. what i did or should i say what i do whenever i hurt something is i will do my normal training but if it hurts or pulls even a little i will stop and switch movements. prime example is after i jacked my bicep, i could not do pronated grip pull ups at all. it tightened down on me bad. so i went to neutral grip and now i am able to do them pronated again. pt straight up told me after every time i have been jacked up do not stop training no matter what. you have to push blood and stuff through the area as often as possible with a little stimulation to speed up the process
