ok, i read a great article yesterday that made a lot of sense and i will put it up later on. so we have heard time and time again that you have to lift heavy to get big blah blah blah. so let's hear everyone's opinion on how heavy what rep range and what timing of heavy has worked best and kept them in the gym for the max amount of time?

I used to keep a log as to what I was lifting, etc. now I just go in and see how I'm feeling then. If I feel good I'll go heavy as hell. If I'm feeling blah, then I start light and see what happens lol.
I do stick to basic lifts for size. Hardly any isolation movements. From time to time I will, but this seems to work the best for me

I have had to back off on the really heavy stuff. I never thought I would stop, but shredded rotator cuffs have forced me to modify ... It sucks. I like doing all rep ranges with the low heavy reps done early in the workout. Going as high as 20s on squats. And as low as singles and doubles, especially deadlifts.

One of my favorite things when I was getting ready for a contest was to pretend I was training for a powerlifting meet. Going for my heaviest singles the week of the show when I was at my leanest. I focused my mnind on gaining strength and the muscle happened. I really believe that by doing that, it forced my body to hold the muscle , even though I was cutting calories. I never lost much muscle before a show by using trhis method, even though everyone I know told me it was a foolish thing to do. I ignored them of course. I saw other guys before a show going nothing but light weights for high reps. I did the opposite. I knew when I was competing in powerlifting and how hard it was to stay under 198 the stronger I got, even though I was getting leaner. When I got into bodybuilding, I just did the same thing, getting stronger while getting leaner. It worked for me.

      I go on how I feel !!!
If one day I feel like going heavy and fuckin shit up , then lights out .
Someday's I just want to pump blood into the muscle without too much stress .
But I do believe in lots of volume !!! I want to walk out the gym feeling like I taxed the shit out the muscle !!!
