So last week I started to get more bloating and has than usual. By the end of the week I noticed a loss of appetite and by Saturday I had a full blown colitis flare up. After dinner I got sick before we even got the check. Sunday I was sick on and off all day. Monday was a little better and today wasn't bad but I have cut back a bit on food and all supps till I get this handled. Long story short my medicine was ridiculously expensive with my old health insurance which had a $5000 deductible. My mess were $700/month and nothing was covered till we hit the deductible. So fast forward two years later and we arrive at where I am. Luckily when the gyms changed hands my insurance got a lot better but, like a true stubborn male, without symptoms we "forget" there is a problem. I'm waiting on the pharmacy to fill my script and I have an appt at the end of the month with the specialist.
Great side note; I was supposed to get the meds last night but the doc write the script for a dose that doesn't exist so the pharmacist was going to contact him today to confirm what I need.
For those who don't know colitis has symptoms very similar to crohns. Part of my treatment is to avoid anything spicy, greasy, acidic, avoid fiber, caffeine or any other stimulant, corn and diary. With meds I could eat these things without too much worry. Without meds I did ok until recently. Doc told me when I have a flare up to just eat meat and potatoes, perfect for me. Now let's hope they don't tell me I'm due for a colonoscopy (which I know I am. It's been three years I believe).
Needless to say between the inability to control my movements and the lack of calories and supps I am taking a week off of the gym. At first I thought it would only be a few days but obviously God wants me to take more time because he has compounded my workload at work so it would be impossible to train even if I felt better. I'm shooting for Sunday to get back to it.

One more fun note; Thursday I have to go speak to the da in my friends murder case after work. Trial starts soon. Still hoping these depositions will be enough and I don't get a subpoena.

Thanks mm. I think the forced week off will be good. I can get the meds in my system, I can spend the extra time I need to get caught up at work and that will be a stress reliever too. I'm kinda funny when it comes to stress. I tend to get more focused no matter whether it's personal stress or work related. My wife is the opposite, she shuts down. The only bad part is I'm so matter of fact about stuff that sometimes I seem insensitive. Last week when she has the stomach bug she called me all upset at 8am and asked what I was doing and where I was. I said "I'm at fucking work in newburgh. What's wrong ?" She explained she was really sick and hadn't left the bathroom all morning. I said "ok what do you need me to do?" She said "I don't know but I'm really sick." I said "do you want me to come get you and being you to the doctor? Do you need me to get vinny ready for school? Do I need to do both?" I didn't have time to the play touchy feely sympathy game. I needed to know what she needed from me so I can make the appropriate phone calls and plan the rest of my day. She said she didn't even have a chance to get vinny ready so I needed to get home and get him ready for school. So I raced home hit him up and dressed and packed his bag and drove home to school because it was after 9am by then. I came home made a quick burger and ate it on the way back to work.

Cvs just said my doc never Called them back and thy can find any history of that medicine for me. I had been prescribed suppositories in the beginnkng(2010) and they couldn't find that info either. Luckily I found a pack of the suppositories and it had their label still on it with the rx number. The wife is calling back now. I took those meds every month for almost four years and they have no record of it. I'm sure they took close to $11,000 in three and a half years from me so they better find something. I can't wait to hear the excuse.

Thanks dethlok. I lucked out and my new insurance goes right to a copay and the lialda was only $35. It's crazy to see the difference. I can't wait to put this behind me. Then I can really put the pedal to the medal.

Lialda is a fantastic medication for colitis. i take it myself. Superior to Asacol imo. if your copay ever goes over $50 the ShireCares (Shire is the manufacturer of the branded medication) program will give you the medication for free. A simple phone call and form is all it takes. Best of luck my friend.

I have had two and the procedure is fine but the prep is torturous. No food for over 24hrs is next to impossible. I get flu symptoms from it.
