scary, but it is really very little difference between a pilot in a plane and a drone. one is just remotely operating the plane. pilots are told to drop a bomb or shoot a missile just like these guys.

i get remorse, but i wonder if $$$ is involved here.

that is war fellows. my dad cries when he thinks about it. the things he did and saw. but he still maintains he did it for the greater good. we are fighting people who would kill every single human in the USA without hesitation if they could. very diff than vietnam or the WWs.

these guys said they did not even know why the strike was launched........yeah that is how it goes. they are not a colonel calling shots. they do not have the intel. maybe they just killed a dude who had killed 20 US soldiers and was planning on killing as many as he could. I am damn sorry about the loss of innocent life. really but how does one say OK we let him go even though we waited 9 months for a shot at him and more USA soldiers will die if we let him go.

I do not have an answer. I understand their remorse but it seems they are whiny *****es. (i have never served so it is easy and certainly calloused me saying that) they knew what they would be doing. they chose the drone program.

i have absolutely zero remorse for anything that i have done during my career. i may be cold and cold hearted as hell but here is the thing with how messed up our gov and military works. when we invaded iraq we dropped leaflets and had pysops broad casting messages for all the residents of the cities to leave and that they had 24-72 hours to pass through one of our check points to leave. once that time was up they made one last broad cast and we would even pause at certain phase lines and do the same thing all over again. so when i got the op to call in arty and air on positions we were taking contact from, it was off my conscience if innocent people were killed or injured. they had more than enough op to leave. and contrary to popular belief our gov is doing the same thing in the areas that the bad guys are working out of right now when targeting infastructure. this is plain and simple solution to this moral conscience problem, dont sign up if you are not ready to kill. you are told when you enlist or take the oath as an officer that you may have to do the job. that goes for the bakers bean counters band members to the pilots, everyone is a combatant in the time of conflict and if you dont want to have to deal with no knowing why you are doing what you are told to do, then dont join.
i have went in and done some very dumb stuff for no reason and not knowing what it was for nor the objective at the risk of my and my team mates lives but we do what we are told. it is esp irrating to go in and clear out buildings you are talking contact from when you have a plt of tanks parked next to you that can level them with a round or two. we do as we are told

you would think a pilot would be much happier flying a drone than actually sitting in the driver's seat of his own aircraft. no risk to that pilot when flying that drone so the risk to reward ratio is much better for the pilot. but a hippie is a hippie regardless of the risk

Those are not pilots, they are Air Force sensor operators and techs. Air Force sensor operators (enlisted) laser the targets, however the pilots (Officers) fire the missiles. They sit next to each other in the GCS but only the officer is a pilot.

I'm there with you. I'm fresh in my career and have little experiance much less combat experiance but I leave the fob everyday knowing what I signed up to do and why I'm doing it. The people here are living in the stone age but they are far from djmb. If something is going on they know it and they know it before us. They choose to stay or leave, if they stay then Chaves are they are a peice to a puzzle somehow. No normal person stays with bad guys shooting at Americans or what ever else from there house, not even here.
