Father's Day is the wrong title

TweetI'm pretty positive that I'm not the only one who doesn't enjoy Father's Day. With the state of our nation I'm sure many share a hole in their heart where no father exists. It's pretty obvious as a whole the lack of male leadership in the home is the core reason we are where we are because evil hits at the lowest level to work it's way up to drag a nation down.

Really this holiday should be called Dad's day because let's face it if we are celebrating "father's" day then really we are just celebrating the man who knocked up your mother in less than 15 minutes. It takes no real effort to be a father other than having some game to get a chick to spread her legs for you.

With Mother's Day it's entirely different where "mothering" is actually more than a noun it's also a action verb. Mothers live and breathe their children lives for the most part in a open arms and loving style. Now don't get me wrong I am a father and also more importantly a "dad" which salvages some of this Hallmark holiday for me now. That being said the void of an absentee father still affects me to this day. I know as a Christian I'm to cast my cares on my Heavenly Father but let's be honest this doesn't solve the riddle fully while we are stuck here on this world.

The entire holiday title needs to be celebrated and and even more revered than Mothers Day because of how few true dads there are anymore in our society. We revel at species that are near extinct, we protect them, we promote them. We give focus and way to strong a voice to minority fringe groups. So I say to you why aren't the true dads more revered in our society. Why aren't these men celebrated like a species going extinct?

Obviously what I'm talking about will never happen. In closing I would just like to influence your life to celebrate any dad you know as someone who should be celebrated for breaking from the downward cycle in this nation, celebrated for "daddying" children as our next generation so that maybe, just maybe we can break this fatherless/dad less society we are in.

Honor that man if you know him. He is rare.

TweetDam right bro, being apart of a large family and growing up strict christian, the importance of a good father has always been talked about in our family. I agree that most of our issues in this country and the reason that most black males are incarcerated are because they dont have a father at home. Im not being racist, go google that for yourself.

Im soooooo thankful to have a great father and mother that raised us to be respectful and have moral values.

TweetWe are all accountable for our actions at some point so we can only take the fatherless part so far but dam guys I think about the mistakes I might not have made if I had a good man leading me. My mother did a phenomal job but the journey would have been smoother for sure.

I guess tomorrow will be a day to reflect back on my own dad. I was not real close to him. He was always talking about his war experiences, which was always cool to hear. His way of showing love was to take care of his family by working himself into the ground. He worked weekends and from 6 am until 10 pm, day in and day out. He was not around very much but he took damn good care of my mom and made sure we were all taken care of. When he was around, we didnt get along real well and I thought his people skills were horrible. lol. But he worked hard to provide for his family and I miss him real bad. Losing my parents was the most life changing experience Ive ever gone thru. There arent really words to describe it. Every day, I will cry for a bit when I think about them and how much they mean to me. The grief never goes away, you just sort of learn to channel it somehow in a positive way that would make them proud. So both mothers day and fathers day are pretty damn sad now. Just try and stay busy and not think too much about it being a holiday for the rest of the country. Thanks

TweetAMEN !.... I've been a single mom since my daughter was pretty much born.. My ex wanted nothing to do with a baby girl so he left all responsability for me.. All he did was provide but there was no love or bonding with our daughter. Since we've seperated 5 yrs ago he has asked many times why he's daughter doesn't love him or want to spend time with him. She's 19 yrs old and has expressed many times how she hates her father for hurting us and not being there for us. She has not had a father or dad figure in her life so it has been hard for me to raise her but I try my best.
