Is it possable to build mass without pressing barbells? I only press dumbells do to a bad rotator cuff. I feel that dumbells isolate my pecs better, but aren't putting on the bulk that a barbell would.

I think a person can do great with just dumbbells, although I believe that barbell exercises are more efficient mass builders.

I use dumbells almost exclusively, and I have no problem gaining mass. I think it's a good idea to switch it up every 6 weeks or so though.

IMO db hit more muscle fibers than bb (w/c is our goal when we train right?) bec they work each muscles independently and having to balance each weight adds more stimulus to the muscles, therefore for me theyre excellent mass builders. I wld normally use bb for light warmups only.

I feel this really comes down to which movement you have mind muscle connection with.

IMHO there is no 100% movement that works best for anyone. If you feel you can get a better burn or pump from BB or DB then that is what you should focus on.

Most of us are not at a level that we would really need to be concerned with specific movements to achieve size.

I think that applies more to pros that are peaked out and looking for that next step phase.

And if you have bad rotor cuff bro I really have to say stick to dumbbells and stay away from the flat bench.

I love the dumbbells but every now and again you have to switch it up to the bar....or the Atlantis machines....heck I even throw the free motion machines in every now and again.

Like anything else.........depends on the individual (and of course the training methods)

You can build muscle with dumbells as you get bigger you dont get as much range of motion so I switch to dbs but it is good to to do some bench barbell once and a while so your body doesnt get use to the dbs but science you have a bad rotator cuff start light and work yourself up

Nuthin wrong with using dumbbells. You can build a great physique just using them. Eventually you will top out and not be able to go heavy enough, but by that time you should be one huge mofo

I just recently had to switch to db's as well to a shoulder problem and like them better anyway. You just have to focus on that muscle.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups
