Tweetwow that is awesome. my coach started with that mentality. he could not keep people. now he is much nicer. still get checked and a bloody nose or a dead leg but i was glad he changed.
TweetGreenlight - gym pros and coaches are given the go ahead to attack full force on new members. This typically happens when someone who is new to a gym comes in telling everyone how bad ass they are. One of my favorite things about combat sports is that bull shitters get called out in the most brutal of ways. Come in talking like a world beater and you'll be put to the test. While this isn't necessarily the case in this particular vid we do get to see what happens when coaches who are all accomplished fighters get the greenlight on a bunch of new recruits.
This video has received a lot of criticism because many people say there is no real learning to be had here. It's just a bunch of noobs being brutalized by superior fighters. While I agree to some extent, this is muay thai, in Thailand. You wanna play the thai's game, you play the thai's way.
I haven't been through anything quite this hardcore, and i can only imagine the sense of relief and accomplishment these men/women felt after making it through this day. Awesome footage!

Eventually, if there isn't deep integrity and fundamental character strength, the challenges of life will cause true motives to surface and human relationship failure will replace short-term success.
There is an idea of who I am: some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me; only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel my flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

Tweeti'm glad you checked out the vid dude! i love that shit. as we see in this vid even the great Buakaw is subject to brutality for his mistakes:
it's just the nature of the beast i suppose. i remember early on with my mma training i'd be disappointed if i didn't leave with a black eye or some kind of battle wound. today i'm more into the train harder not smarter mindset. you don't have to give me stitches for me to understand that i didn't parry a punch right lol.

TweetHAHA all you can do is laugh. that shit hurts. my Khru will not kick you while down but he will put you down or make you pay with a leg or body kick. amazing the difference between accepting a kick when the person is wearing shin pads and one that is not.
Tweetoh man, shin pads make all the difference. i always hate training knees to the mid section while in the thai clinch. i just hold the pads and hope for the best, that's about the last time you wanna deal w/ an errant knee!
